DL Christmas card

Hi Everyone, before I start on the subject of my card, I have to give you an update on my orchid. I don't want to bore you, BUT! LOL. I really am thrilled that having never had one flower for me, I have one that flowered and not only that still with buds to come, here is my floral success and with another leaf too.

OK enough of me boasting of my unlikely floral achievement. On to my card.

This is cased from Karen, she has step by step instructions on each card and I thought I would be able to do it and this is my result, OK, I forgot to add the tape in the correct place, but I think it's OK. I'm pleased with the result and would haven't have thought of doing this with the inks without seeing her card.
The sentiment was going to be black, and I thought I would emboss it with clear sparkly powder, it turned out to be white sparkly! so I added black ink to the sentiment again (thank goodness for a stamping platform) and used clear sparkle this time and this is the result. The snowflakes are cut from holographic card.

sentiment stamp - mag freebie

Sheep 3 ways!

Hi Everyone, my card/s were influenced by Sally, as when I visited and saw this image, I had to have it. As you know and I keep telling you, I'm Welsh and we have a lot of sheep in Wales and the image had such a gorgeous look, I fell in love with it and it makes me smile too.

Anyhow, when I stamped it, I had to see what it would be like on white and black card, so 3 very different cards for you. I went wild and you know? I like them all.

The first one to show you is this new to me technique, if there is one, that I used. I stamped the sheep in black onto black card, then used watercolour pencils, which didn't come out bright enough, so I added a sheen and that brought the white up a bit. I actually liked it, so left it as it was. I added it to an green embossed wall background, as if he was in a sheep pen up in the mountains? I added a 3 layer sentiment on a plain banner die.

sheep - Woodware
embossing folder - Crafters Companion texture wall
sentiment and banner - Card Making Magic by Christina
colour - Nuvo Vibrant watercolour pencils
sheen - Lust Rub ons Craf-T Products
eye - Uniball gold glitter pen
highlight - Uniball white pen

This one, I stamped and embossed onto white card, coloured with Distress inks, added a stencil to the Kraft card, which I shadowed as shown by Jennifer Mcguire. I stamped the "Happy" and cut the sentiment with the Cameo from black card adding gloss to the letters.  I had inspiration from CTS#66 sketch.
CAS(E) this Sketch!: CAS(E) this Sketch #66

Distress inks -  Antique Linen, Frayed Burlap, Walnut Stain, Hickory Smoke
eye - Spectrum Noir marker
stencil - Ranger, Mag freebie
happy stamp - mag freebie
baaaa-thday font - Fluffy Slacks
gloss - Nuvo Crystal Glaze

This one was stamped onto black card and embossed then, fluffy stuff added, I stamped the happy onto the card and cut the sentiment out on the Cameo adding gloss to the letters. I doodled with a fine line pen around the edge of the card in a similar design to the edge of the stamp.
embossing powder - Papermania Seafoam white
fluffy stuff - Cosmic Shimmer
happy stamp - Altenew mag freebie
baaaa-thday font - DS Snowman Kisses
gloss - Nuvo Crystal Glaze
fineliner pen

I think #3 is my favourite only because of the fun fluffy stuff I think. However each makes me smile, so perhaps I haven't a favourite, their too different? Mojo went wild with these, I wonder if it will stay. LOL
Here they are together.

Baby Boy

Hi Everyone, I had promised you a few days back to show you the batch of cards I made, however I gave them to my SiL and then realised I hadn't actually taken one photo of any of them. Duh!

I do have the baby boy card I made. I have used this adorable image a few times in the past and love him just as much today. I was completely flummoxed with what to do with the card. After much research! I buckled down to make this and it's all from items I have had for many, many years. Although I saw a few cards After!!!! I had finished it and maybe could have done something different.  However I am pleased with it. I also made a box for it, so it wouldn't flatten in the post. I hope I have everything as I should have here, I am going into a visual migraine as I write, so please excuse if there are any errors.

Midwife

Hi Everyone, I'm having trouble with the 'puter, so getting things together is a little fractious on occasions. Anyhow, my card today is one I made for our GNiece who has gained great results and can now go on to her Midwifery training in a London Hospital, we are all so proud of her. It's something she has wanted to be since a little girl.  The image is one I have had for many, many years, one in waiting I guess LOL. I print and cut it on the Cameo (so much easier) and layered 3 images, making texture and easier to post.

I thought I would share our front drive garden with you

and the view I get from my craft room.

After our beautiful Acer was cut down we were left with a part of the trunk, too much for hubby to dig up with large roots, age does that doesn't it? Anyway we were out in a garden centre, when we were able to get out after lockdown, when we saw a pot that looked like it was made with grey slate, which we loved. We filled it with plants, can't remember the name and as it's raining a LOT! so I won't go and check the name! I'll edit the post and let you know. We placed it on top of the trunk and hubby made it safe somehow and I think it now looks like a large mushroom, I love it and the plants are so pretty. They'll hang down when grown  bigger.

Emboss frame

Hi Everyone, I have nil mojo again, but because I was trying to make another card, this came about. I embossed the frame, wasn't happy with it, then tried colouring it, wasn't happy with that, a few days later still on my desk, I looked at it and thought it looked pretty and decided to just add a centre with a trial I had made with Pixie Powder. I die cut flowers 3 times, (which I thought looked similar to the embossed flowers) and coloured them sameish. An embossed sentiment and it was done and I'm sort of happy with it.

A short post, as I have to come up with a baby boy card, one of my nieces has become a Grandmother for a second time this Monday. He is a handsome 8lb 2oz  lad (of course LOL). All I need now is inspiration from somewhere, I have looked  everywhere, think that's a good idea, then ah! that's a good idea and get myself confused, it will be interesting to see what comes through to my mind, it had better be good, as the first baby had what I would call an extra special card here from me and I don't want this to be less.

Sailing!

Hi Everyone, I have just realised I haven't blogged for nearly a week, I have been around blogland and have been making cards, just not getting them on here. I've also added inserts to masses of cards I have made in the last couple of months, also making a batch make, that I will show another day.

Anyhow, my card today came about in a matter of seconds, OK maybe a minute or two. We are carers for our son and we had a phone call the other day from the local Carers Association. One of their "days" was card making, well! I couldn't say no to that could I? it was a Zoom call due to Covid etc. They delivered a few things to everyone before hand and we were supposed to use them to make a card.

During the call however everyone else was making what they wanted, only one was a cardmaker and not that often. I was a bit disappointed and tried to make things with what I had from them, it was a complete disaster, (all the others produced great cards) and when we were told we had 2 minutes to go, I threw placed it into the bin. I got the kraft card and washi tape that also came from them and got some stamps out and just went for it, this is the result. The blue circle I admit was done later to "finish" the card off.

I wouldn't say it's one of my best card by any stretch of the imagination, but for being done so quickly I was pleased so was the host. (He was probably pleased I had produced something LOL). The next one is in October, we'll see what happens then. They also rang last week, saying the next "day" was cooking? Whaaaaat? No thanks, Hubby is the main cook here LOL

Hi Everyone, I have another lion today, made for a reminder of our very generous prize at The Male Room. I'm not going to tell you what, you will have to follow the link! LOL.

I really hope you will join in, you have a little time left to enter.

I used a stencil by our sponsor and coloured it in Distress inks, 3D layered onto paper and another 2 layers to match the sketch. Quite simple, but I am pleased with it.

Bad Mother!

Hi Everyone, It's my Son's birthday today and he hates being reminded he is getting older. However I have to keep reminding him and will, as long as he objects.

I confess I am a Bad Mother.

I usually like to use a lion on his birthday card, as he is a true Leo of his star sign, he loves "Space", so an addition of the Leo star sign was added with gems. For my badness, I added his age, as I do most years! However this year I also added the time to the second! I had seen it on the web and who couldn't use it? Not me.

I added a great paper which I felt was artistic and represented the heat of Africa. I had this majestic lion in my files, I think he has a kind and intelligent face, so I added it to my Cameo and cut it out in vinyl, I've added how tiny some of the pieces were, I had to remove to make the shape of the head, I even used a magnifying glass. I hope he won't be too angry with me (of course not LOL) He will raise his eyes up and say "Muuuum". I used a glitter pen to accentuate the age and the Leo. Quite a simple card, because he doesn't keep them around long, except one I framed HERE which he still has in his room here at home.

star sign - scrumptiously celestial constellations @ Pixelscrapper

I don't know why these items are so far apart, I can't get them closer no matter what I do - strange!

this shows the shine of the vinyl and the glitter pen

here are some of the pieces I needed a magnifying glass for,
it's incredible how small the pieces are that the Cameo cuts.
Don't look at the wrinkly thumb, LOL

Tropical stencil

Hi Everyone, my post today was inspired by Sally I really liked what she did and as she had an easy tutorial, I thought I would try it. It worked like a dream, then on my last stamping I made a mistake. Do I do it all over again? nope, I added stamped and die cut flowers, to cover the fault. I really enjoyed doing this and will try and do it again sometime.

I didn't have a large leaf stencil, so I used a digital die leaf and cut it with my Cameo out of acetate. I've also cut a smaller leaves stencil, so I can use them again. I used the large leaf style stencil, to match a leaf stamp I have, which is in the set of tropical stamps, with the hibiscus flower stamp. The Aloha was a digital die cut I have used before.
stencil - Planeta Silhouette
stamps - Magazine freebies Simply Cards and Papercraft # 205
Distress ink
sparkle pen - Spectrum Noir
pink card - The Works
black card - The Range

these are the stencils I cut out of 140 micron acetate.
(Ashamedly the leaf still has some ink on it.)
I've bought or had a few freebie stencils to cut out recently,
all I have to do now is get them cut and use them.

Seeing as we have some heat, not as hot as some parts of the UK, but very nice heat for us, to make us feel a little tropical, I thought I would share some piccies of Sparrows enjoying the feeder and the water we have for them. There must be at least 25 who visit every 2ish hours in the garden to feed off the feeders. They are so quick and are eating us out of house and home LOL.
They are not edited, sorry, I just wanted to add them before I posted this.

They fly into and out of the Physocarpus "Diabolo" shrub, the perfect hideaway for them.

some decided to have a bath

and then some more decided to join them!

I hope you'll be OK in the thunderstorms and heavy rain promised this next week.

Luxury Handbag?

Hi Everyone, I have a card today made for our Niece in law. She loves handbags and recently treated herself to a luxurious designer handbag. Sigh! it's fabulous.

Anyway, I decided to make her a handbag card and as I had a digital cut die that cut one out for me, I decided it had to be used.

I chose the shiny paper as it had rose gold in it and I had gold rose foil, so I foiled the additional shape and added it to the card, the foil moved a bit so I had a couple of blank spaces, but I don't think it detracts too much, I hope not. I went to get rose gold gems and found - none! Black to the rescue. I then added a die tag and sentiment and bow to the handle. I hope she likes it, I certainly do. LOL.

Sarah from Funky Fossil has very generously offered a £25.00 credit to her store for the first randomly drawn winner.

Two chances to win, how awesome is that?!! All you need to do is create a masculine birthday card and link it up to our gallery to be in with a chance to win.

A nice easy challenge for everyone, we all have a man in our lives whose birthday is in the next few months? I made this for our next door neighbour who is lawn mad, he also enjoys a chuckle, so I hope he enjoys this. He better had, I used the last piece of this particular paper with only pieces left of the pad boo hoo. It was for a good cause though!

'Orsey #4

Hi Everyone, well this is my final pony/horse card to show you, I have so enjoyed them and their cuteness. I had made and cut a stencil out of card, you'll find it here. I layered twice from the cut 300gsm card and used it as an embossing folder.

As you can see I have debossed and embossed, I wish I could say it was deliberate! I had an idea to just add the embossing to the inside edge of the card, but it debossed, so I thought I would turn the cut card stencil the other way and emboss, adding red strips, hides the join! I also added some of those horseshoes that were cut to make the stencil and embossing folder.  I'm pretty happy the way it turned out.

Christmas Robin 2 CCC

Hi Everyone, I have 2 DT cards today this the second

41st challenge

Our sponsor for this challenge is the wonderful

I decided to use this image as we have a resident Robin in the garden. I printed it out on watercolour card, one with a border and one without.  I started watercolouring and after the first image, I ended up printing another 5 and doing the 6 in no time, I was so pleased with the result, I left it as a CAS card, I was impatient to get it made into a card straight away to see the finished article. I also added 3D glaze to the berries and the robin's eye.
watercolour card - Windsor & Newton
inks - Distress inks
sentiments - Crafters Companion and Card Making Magic mag freebies,
gold mirror card - stash
banner paper - First Edition
Nuvo Crystal Glaze

The A5 size cards have an added banner and a different sentiment and the smaller square centre was printed onto white card and splattered with black ink, with the same check paper added as background.

has a challenge that we are partnering, it's
"Dog Days of Summer"
"Embossing - hot or dry"
using a dog or other favorite animal.

Well as my Robin is a joy when he pops up at the food feeder, I guess he is my favourite animal. So here is my card with dry embossing on the background papers, I know it's not a Summer card, but our Robin is around a lot now.
AND! after seeing the glitter glue result on this card I added it to the others also.
