Another age card

More of the shopping bag saga - it seems I had left the water in my steam iron so it wouldn't get as hot as the first time I did them, when I poured the water out, DUH! I had to throw 6 bags out, as I ruined them, I am going to take 11 into work and hopefully sell them as seconds!!!!  I took the good ones in and all were pleased with them, I also sold a few more and had some orders too, at the end of the day, I may break even.

I was asked by one of the girls in the office to make a card for her friend who is a fanatical Celtic supporter.  Not being a football fan I had to search on line to see what they were all about.  I copied their emblem and made it into a backing paper in PS, I then "masked" it and it covered the 6. I made green stripes on white as that is their shirt colour and masked and covered the 3, it seems they have a tartan, I hope I have used the right one, which I used as a backing and printed directly onto the card. I also got from the web a photo of the cup they won in France and copied the colours of the ribbons by adding ribbons onto the footballs border I made up in PS. I then 3D'd the scarf to make it look like it was around the six.  I cut his name out of black card with my Cricut.   I am glad to say she was thrilled, just hope the recipient will be.

I am going to enter the card into the following challenges.

Black & White

Hi everyone, sorry I haven't been blogging, too many things on the go!

I have had an awful day crafting, I made some shopping bags with T shirt transfer paper, I was so thrilled I took them into work and was asked to do another 20! WEll, I ironed for three and half hours on these bl..dy bags and have some that have worked well, 2 I had to throw out, the rest will have to see if they accept them.  I am sooooooooooooooo disappointed as everyone thought my designs great.  I could cry as I had invested money in my new little venture!  We in Wales have to pay 5pence for a plastic carrier bag if we have one from a shop, so everyone is using recyleable or "proper" shopping bags, this was going to be a little thing I could do when I retire to keep me busy and make a little extra to suppliment my pension.  Failure is something I don't do well, so will have to think of something else to do with the bags I bought.

One of the things I have done is this card, the criteria was black and white and classy and was for a husband and wife, hope it meets its needs.  It had to go into the post so I didn't add to much weight or height.  I used an image from TLC Vintage I coloured their skin in PS and the digi papers, which I paper pieced in PS, are from Summertime Designs and Pink Petticoat.  I used black card from Hobbycraft, which is only 170mg great for layering and not too heavy. I also printed the shaped black & white paper and the image on eggshell gloss paper from Cuddly Buddly, bling added was a present to me a couple of years ago so don't know where that came from and added 3D Gloss to the greeting. Hope you like it.

I made this first, felt there was something missing so addded a bow, which you can see in the photo below.
In this photo you can see the shine from the eggshell paper and the shine from the 3D gloss I added to the greeting.

40th birthday

I made a card, last week, requested for a lady racing card driver! I didn't know there were any, but there are!

Anyhow it had to include a racing car of a certain type, can't remember what type - sorry! I had the car off the web and made it into a digi type picture (I hope) and added 40 onto the bonnet (hood) it had a yellowie stripe on it and was black, so I tried to match the papers to that, luckily after a search of my papers I found digi paper by SummertimeDesigns "Ringing in the Berries"  and I LOVE it.  I have a digi called woman with champagne, I have had a VERY long time, so of course I haven't an idea of the artist, please let me know so that I can give credit.  I paper pieced her dress in PS and coloured her also in PS. I added a shadow to her,  I cut her out, with a frame of black, out of Penny Duncan's Shapelies on my Cricut, printed out the paper which was on Cuddly Buddly Eggshell Gloss paper, love that texture :) printed the main card with one of the papers directly on it, then placed the others on the card, I Stickled the flowers and added the black frame and digi image to the front , I added the name and 40 to the front with 3D foam pads, then little black buttons I had in my stash.  I had good feedback from it, thankfully.

13th Birthday

One of my Great Nieces is 13 and I have made this for her, it makes me realise they are growing up and I'm getting "younger" LOL.  (The eldest is 22 and the youngest is 7).

I have made it with Yeah Mae a digi by Some Odd Girls, I can't find it on their site anymore, but I am sure she is called Yeah! Mae, someone can correct me if I am wrong.  I used digi papers from Pink Petticoat and paper piecing her outfit in PS, then colouring the rest of her also in PS.  The cupcake is by Gina Jane at DAISIE. I also used a gradient effect on her name "Millie" to match the papers, I 3D'd Yeah! Mae and added a metallic craft thread I had as a freebie from Quick and Crafty - soooooooo long ago! I also Stickled Mae so a bit sparkly too, hope Millie likes it.  I know she reads my blog occasionally but as it's her birthday tomorrow and I HOPE she has had her card by now, I think I can blog it.  I really like making these age cards, they are quite effective.  I have also made a 60 this week, will post it another day.

LIM 54

A fabulous day today, even if it is cold, we were going to go down to the sea, BUT the car developed a slow puncture and my hubby has been away having it fixed about 3 hours so far, so in the meantime what was I to do, um! a bit of cleaning - nah! I finished reading a book, do I start another, nah! Let's play I thought and so WOW I have actually made a card on a Saturday for the LIM challenge , the criteria this week is -

The second week of each month is when we get back to the basics of Clean and Simple Design... the
One Layer Card. This week we have a really tricky challenge... I don't think we're going to be immensely popular with our LIMettes, but here goes... we would like to see
STRIPES
Making a one layer card incorporating stripes is not as straightforward as a regular card, but we'd like you be as inventive as you like.
You can use an image with a striped design, an embossing folder which incorporates stripes or draw or make some yourselves.

For this I had to look through everything I have to do with stripes, however nothing came to mind on what I would do with them.  I then had a look through my digi stamps and came across this fab image of QueenBeeVintageDigitizedbyTlcCreations and thought STRIPES!!!!!!!!!  a bit of colouring not so straightfoward in PS and came up with this. I also used a filter in PS to give the wings a glass effect, hoping it would make them more see through LOL. The font is  ForgetMeNotHMK, if I'm not mistaken I fancied it on one of Mandi's cards a while back.  After printing I added gold Stickles so the wings sparkled a bit.

As I have finished writing this hubby has returned with a repaired tyre, thankfully only £12.00 to pay out today :) anyhow, here's the card

My SIL Anne suggested I try gradient in PS, so I did.

2 Yorkies!

I have made a card for a friend who has 2 Yorkshire terriers and is besotted with them, so I HAD to include them on her card.

I chose a sketch, from my files, which is from LOTV dated 26th June  and with 2 Yorkies by Meljens Designs at the ready, I coloured them in PS and added digi papers from Pink Petticoat and backing card from Papermania which I cut with my Cricut using Fairycuts programme into a nice shape from an SVG file, but I cannot find out by whom in my files. I didn't save it, as I had it already saved, but WHERE in my SVG files. I've looked through them all, but can't find it, if anyone knows I would be grateful, not only to credit the person, but so that I can use it again!!!!!!!  I Stickled the pink flowers on the paper to give a bit of sparkle, I'm glad to say she was thrilled with it.

EDITED 14/2/12  It's a Penny Duncan shapelie

Wedding Card

I made a wedding card for someone in the family who is getting married and hopes her mother will live long enough to get there.  I felt it couldn't be too much about happiness, but hope this will make her day a bit brighter no matter what.

I put a layer of VERY thick vellum I had from an estate agents house folder!!!!! over a hammered card after I had cut it out with a border by Birdscards.com I added the hearts myself, then cut out a scroll with a file also by Birdscards.com. I then added text I made up in Fairycuts. I embossed both the scroll and the text with Cuttlebug folders  I added a varigated ribbon from Hallmark and added a few flowers from my stash. I added Glamour dust for a littel sparkle and I am pleased with the effect, I hope her day will be happy.  I thought that "It's Your Day" conveys no matter what happens, it IS her day.

I'm sorry the photos are not too good, I had to make it tonight and post it tomorrow as the wedding has had to be rushed through because of the sad circumstances.

I am going to enter the following challenges with this card

LIM 53 Aqua

Less is More blog requirements this week are
For our first Anniversary we are back to a repeat of our inaugural challenge which for the first Saturday of the month is colour... and this time we have chosen
AQUA

So this is my entry I took an aqua coloured card from Papermania and an aqua velevet ribbon I have had for years, I found a Tutu SVG file, I have downloaded without saving the name of where from duh! I cut out the card, then cut a paper copy of the top dress and placed it over the ribbon, and cut it out.  I then looked for a saying with regard to dance on my computer, (I forget what I have) and found this quote I had from Lettering Delights.  Changed the colour from black in PS to Aqua and printed it onto my card, then after gluing all together and adding Stickles to the dress I added it to the card.  I love the ballet shoes in the quote.

Ragged Romeo

Here is my card that I made with an image from Mo Manning. I wanted it VERY different to my last card and I don't think it could have been more different with these colours.

I have made the card in PS, starting with paper piecing the Vintage Oreaos digi paper by Summer Designs, I then coloured the image face etc and shaded it in PS.  I printed the background straight onto the card adding silver stickles to the centre of the rings.  I then printed the orange paper and image and sentiment label. The next step was to cut the border of the orange paper with a Martha Stewart punch, layer the image on top, wind the ribbon around it (I had it last year from the Paper Mill shop, now sadly closed)  and glued it onto the main card, then stick the label on with 3D foam stickers .  I added Stickles to the dress and her band and 3D Glossed the roses.

Close up of image

I am pleased with this different approach, it took me hours and hours of quite enjoyable work to do the image, but I think it was worth it.  You stampers are probably saying WHY don't I just colour it in with pencils etc.  It's because I like to do one off cards and I DO enjoy the challenge of doing it in PS, learning more each time I do it.  Hope you like it anyhow.

Horses

I have a niece who is mad about horses, and as she is, over 40, shall I say, I have over the years made many different types of cards with regard to horses, well this year it's going to be different to ANYTHING she has had before, not only is it a CAS card, but also has ribbon you can only just see and cut out horses.  I shall leave you to ponder that for a little while LOL.  I used a horse from a file by BirdCards.com, she is so clever, I made it into a border in Fairycuts, cut it out with my Cricut added the ribbon, I used gradients with PS inside so the text matched the ribbon, hope she likes it.

I don't think my niece looks at my blog, I hope not anyway, however her Mum does, so no telling her Anne :)

Oh! OK then I'd better show you. I'll show the ribbon, it's the same ribbon I used Here and there is still plenty left.

Here is the ribbon inside the card
OK OK I'm getting there here is the card the close up of the horses and ribbon

At last here is the card, hope it isn't a let down after all the hype LOL.
