Grandfather's house

Hi Everyone aren't we lucky to have a hobby that keeps us indoors in these confusing and worrying times.

My project today is for

This suited me down to the ground as I have recently copied down a LOT of my Grandfather's writings, with over 200 poems and 3 "books" of his life, it has taken a lot of hours over the last 18 months and I have a lot still to do. I have been doing talks to groups about them and they have been very well received. I have 3 "talks" all with great emotion in them. One of his son as POW on the Burma Railway with the Japanese, the second of him going to work down the coal mines at 10 years old and the 3rd building of his house. He starts on why he moved to the village and the tragedy that made him move.

So I decided to use part of his story as my DT project with this digital Scrapbook page. Digital? so I can send it to other members of the family who don't know the story.

I hope you enjoy the story if you can read it? Don't forget you can enlarge it by holding down the ctrl key and using pushing the mouse wheel forward, do it in reverse to put it back as it was, you may see a popup box asking you to "reset" just click that if you want to reset it as it was.

What an extraordinary man your Grandfather was! This is an incredibly inspiring story - no work, little money, but he went on and built his bungalow! I think your whole family will be delighted with this lovely page (the vintage feel is just right!) Have you thought of getting his writings published? (I am an ex-librarian, and books are my 'thing.') Your local history society may be interested, or your local library (If you haven't contacted them already.) I was feeling so low today, my Church has cancelled everything, including the Toddler and Baby clubs which I help to run, but your Grandfather's story has cheered me up no end. We CAN get through this! Sorry about the long screed! Stay well!

Hi Faith, what a lovely story, and so well presented. Thanks for sharing. I can only hope that we can be half as strong as our 'Oldies', they achieved so much with so little. Thanks for visiting my blog, nice to meet you! Stay safe, hugs, Valerie

This is extraordinary! What an amazing man your grandfather was Faith - he reminds me of my big brother who would have been an inventor in a different age. It is just amazing to hear about how he just wouldn't let anything stop him, and just bought small amounts of the lime he needed for the mortar and lugged it back each time. It doesn't surprise me that you come from a line of super heros! Vicky x
