Bare tree

Hi Everyone, I seem to be in an Autumnal mood. I was at a loose end on what to do and thought I would have a look at sketches I save, to see if something got me thinking. One in particular caught my eye and I decided to do some real playing.

I have recently bought some Pixie Powders, now I see why quite a few of you have been raving about them. I water brushed a masked area and threw sprinkled them on them on to the wet area. The result blew me away. I hope you like it too.

The next thing? what was I to do on top to complete the sketch? The stamps I used on my last card got me and I stamped a bare tree onto the powders. I then water brushed a piece of card and copied what I had done on the main card, stamped a sentiment and die cut it. A piece of ribbon, when did I use ribbon last? and onto a black layer to match the stamps and my card was complete.

Being a CAS card is unusual for me, but I really like this card and with the result that I never expected.

Pixie Powders, Burnt Orange & Rich Gold - Cosmic Shimmer
stamps - Tonic free Simply Cards & Papercraft #208
label die - Tonic
ribbon - stash

I had to show you, but I expect many, if not all of you, who have used these powders knew, that when I stamped (with Stazon) the powder showed through the stamping, even though I did the watercolour etc. before the stamping. I am mesmerised LOL.
I will enter the challenge of the sketch

Just a little something else -

My Gniece who is off to train as a midwife asked me if I would do a label for a jar she has, to hold 40 baby feet, why 40, because she has to deliver 40 babies before she qualifies. She is three and a half hours from us, so it had to go into the post asap. I emailed her a few ideas and she liked this one then sent her it and instructions/ What am I on about?  she's a teen she'll know what to do and think me a fussy old woman including instructions.

Anyhow here is her choice of design and colour of vinyl. I cut it out of gold vinyl on my Silhouette and added it to transfer paper so all she has to do is place it onto the jar. The backing comes off and she just adds the image and the transfer sheet to the jar, then removes the transfer sheet. I cut the shape the same size as the area she needs to cover on the jar, the image will then fit the jar - IF I have done it properly.

I had finished this post and then received an email with the jar finished, she's a clever girl.

LOVE the way your card turned out. It looks awesome and a great fall card. That baby jar is so adorable and as a nurse it made me laugh. I was with my friend and we didn't almost catch the baby since the doctor was busy washing his hands.

You are so clever too Faith and so very thoughtful for your Gniece. Love The idea of her 'catching' 40 babies before she qualifies x.
Your CAS card is amazing Faith. I love how you masked the area and what a fabulous effect with the pretty powders. A wonderful take on the sketch and a fabulous design x. Thanks for the information with the Stazon x.

Wow! This card is stunning Faith! A great take on the sketch too I might add. I know aren't these powders amazing??? I don't have the kind you used, but love the shimmer of yours. Never thought about watercoloring a background first and then sprinkling the powders on top while wet, will have to give that a try. That tree is perfect on top of your background! I love how the powders came through the ink, how cool is that?!! Love that you used ribbon too, I haven't used ribbon in a coon's age! lol Great job on getting the sentiment shape to match your background too. Love this card! Love that your Gniece asked to you to make a vinyl decal for her. 40 babies is a lot! I have to laugh about the instructions, they are smart aren't they?! When I tell Bret something, he is like I'm crazy to think he doesn't know how to do it. lol The decal looks great on her jar and looks like she is well on her way of "catching" those 40 babies!! Hugs, Brenda

Well, I can see I'm going to have to go shopping Faith! I've never used pixie powders but they look amazing. Love the look of the tree over the top looking as if it has just lost its leaves. I was confused when I read about your Gniece and wondered if she was a Gnome! Love that label for the baby jar - your clever grandniece will be qualified before she knows it! Vicky x

The Babies Caught jar is fabulous!! What a fun way to track the numbers of babies your great-niece has caught. I wish I'd done something like that when my daughter was training as a midwife.

And your card is gorgeous!! I've never heard of those powders before and will have to do some investigating. The effect really is fantastic!!
