I'm Back!

Hi Everyone, sorry for the AWOL, we have been away for a few days then I have been catching up with lots of things, so haven't had time to post until now.

We went to a "Garden Party", no not at Buckingham Palace, but at my niece's in Bury St Edmunds, she and hubby were celebrating the finalisation of 3 years hard work getting their house into order and gorgeous it is too, all done by her husband. He's retired so had a few things to keep him "busy" LOL. Here is a piccy of the garden layout with the hired waitresses, well you have to do things properly don't you LOL. I forgot to take a piccy of the fabulous food, I was too busy tucking in! The lady in the B&W dress is my niece.  The second is the cloakroom which was his last job.

We then went on to visit my brother and SIL in Lincolnshire, we always go for a spin around the countryside when we are there and during one of these journeys we came across this fabulous empty and unloved cottage, I fell in love with it and my dreams of bringing it back to life with love was quite overwhelming.

If any of you are old enough to remember the 40's film "The Enchanted Cottage" with Robert Young and Dorothy McGuire a beautiful post war film about a disfigured man coming home from the war, it reminded me of it.  If I won the lottery I would just have to have it at any price. Ahhhh!

This is a little of the countryside around where we went.

That's all for today, hope you enjoyed seeing a little of our break.

Such an enjoyable post to read this afternoon. Loved the pictures, and thanks so much for sharing the lovely countryside with those of us who won't get to see it for real. I do remember that movie, & they sure don't make 'em like that any more. Such a quiet romantic & moving movie it was too. I'm so happy for you that you got to take a break, get away for a fun trip, and enjoy your time with your family & friends. I'd love to have that cottage too! TFS & Hugs.

I wish you could win the lottery and buy that darling cottage! Wouldn't it be fun to fix up something like that!

Welcome back Faith! It's lovely to see your photos and I know just what you mean about bringing the 'enchanted cottage' back to life. I haven't seen the film but it sounds right up my street so I've hunted it out and it's lined up for the weekend! Thank you for sharing, Vicky x

Oh Faith - how lovely it was to visit with you by phone this morning, and now to see your daffodil blog! I do wish we lived closer so we could get together more often - I often remember the wonderful time I had visiting you and your hubby ten years ago when we went to the UK...

Keep up the good work! I'll check in with you often!

It sounds as if you had a wonderful time! Those photos are amazing, i especially like the one of the loo (well, for those of us over 60 it does become the most important room in the house hee hee!)

Bury and the countryside round about are beautiful (except for the sugar factory, it's a blot on the landscape!!). I'm so glad you had such a good time there!
