Birthday & garden

Hi everyone, sorry I've not been around, I will try to visit asap. Anyway, I had my son's 48th birthday card to make. Being under the weather and lacking mojo, I used a freebie digital card, which was made smaller for a 6x6inch card, and cut each layer image with Silhouette. Although I did change one of the sentiments to Dear Son. It was his interests and I thought it appropriate for him. Thankfully, he thought it was good. I added another layer of the front to the left of the insert, and added a verse I found online.

Here are some garden photos unedited, so sorry for the quality of the photos. It's been a wonderful year for our flowers, the rain has certainly helped, with the lawn too. The first 4 are at the top of the garden, taken last week, the last two were taken today, with rain expected, again!

Focal sentiment/quote WLSC mid month

Hi Everyone, my DT card today is for We Love Stamping. This month, we would love to see your cards with the theme from Karen

Focal sentiment/quote

My first card for the challenge was easier, due to the large stamp, this required some thinking! In the end, I decided to look through my stamps and dies and see what I could come up with, and this is it.

I found a dream catcher die and stamp and extra stamps from the same magazine. I embossed a few vertical lines onto a piece of card, then die cut the circle part and the feathers. It had a stamp with the die cuts, so used that to silver emboss onto vellum, and attach to the wheel. It didn't match the pattern of the die cut, but I think I got away with it?

I cut more feathers out of vellum, and attached all feathers to the dream catcher. I stamped the sentiment, then attached the card to the base card. Next, I placed the dream catcher onto the embossed lines and added gems to enhance it. The card is so much better in real life, with the embossing and vellum showing up more.

CAS ribbon bow card.

Hi Everyone, my card today is based on a card I saw from Jackie Mooney on Facebook Clean and Simple card making group. Such beautiful work by her. I hope she thinks I have done her justice, but couldn't compete with the beauty of her cards.

Anyhow, this is my version. I embossed a three lined border, and marked where the bow would go, and embossed from that line, to the bottom edge of the card. I used the same bow as Jackie, on my card and found autumn seed heads in my files too. Next I coloured them with DI's and clear embossed them for a little shine. I added gold drops to the top, arranged them onto the card and attached them.

The bow was attached to them and along the embossing line. I also cut the sentiment shape, before stamping the sentiment. I  used glitter twine, bundled, to enhance the bow and sentiment. The card layer was then attached to the base card.

Mixed Media TMR

My card today is for -

 The Male Room Challenge

In a way, a lot of my cards, without thinking, are mixed media, being asked to do mixed media got me in a panic, but this is what I came up with.

stamping, stencilling paste, dry and heat embossing, die cut.

For mixed media, I read somewhere you just go with the flow and use different techniques.  As I have here. I agree it's not one of my best, but I was short of time for the challenge.

I stamped the bike, then added paste, homemade, by mixing some PVA glue and water with talcum powder,  through a stencil. Next the card was dropped into wet paint onto my glass mat, then I splattered the background, with the red ink. After drying it, I added the sentiment onto the card.

Next I went looking for an embossing folder I was sure I had, but couldn't find it, so although it's a "hessian" background, it added texture. I then stamped a sentiment onto the same red card, gold embossed it and die cut it. It was added to the card below the main image. I made lots of mistakes with this card, but, I hope you think it worked out OK.

Focal sentiment/quote WLSC

Hi Everyone, my DT card today is for We Love Stamping. This month, we would love to see your cards with the theme from Karen

Focal sentiment/quote

I don't have many large sentiments, but I did find this, one I've hardly used and had for quite a while. I decided I would play on the "star" word. It was stamped, onto navy pearlised paper from my stash and embossed in white. Then using a star stencil to add ink to the side of the card, masking off into the square shape, matching the stamped image. Next, I stamped a single star shape onto a piece of the navy paper, and also embossed it in white and fussy cut it out.

The stamped sentiment was added to the square card, then the star was added, highlighting the star word. I'm hoping it will go to our great nephew, who will have his GCSC's results soon. He is expected to do really well, fingers crossed for him.

Bird Day - CCC

Hi Everyone, my DT cards today is for -

Critter Crazy

Whether Furry, Feathered, Fantasy, Fairytale,
Scaly, or Insect, there must be a critter.

I had a card to send to a lovely friend, and decided to make one very different to what I normally do. I found a sketch that helped in my decision. I haven't used a sketch for ages, although I changed it slightly.
Next I found my image and papers in my files. Then sent the image and added text for the sentiment, and a shadow for it, to Silhouette and print and cut 3 images, as well as the sentiment, image below. You may be able to see the red lines of the sentiment shadow on top, they were all then cut together.
I printed the papers from Photoshop, and the top layer, which included "It's your" leaving place to add the sentiment and bird. I cut them to size, then coloured my image with watercolour pencils. They were all then placed onto the white top layer, I had chosen a lovely linen lavender card, this was also placed on top, then the purple card was die cut and the image 3D'd into place on top of that.

I then went back to Photoshop to design an insert. I used the same gingham paper, placed white rectangles on top and added the sentiment (from the web) and a bird on a branch, which I changed the colours of slightly, on the left side. It was printed and cut to size and placed inside the card.
