Christmas tea light

Hi Everyone, just had to put an extra post in here as I forgot to show you the Christmas light I did, I showed you the box but not the tea light - duh! With this,  I highlighted the star by using the Silhouette pen and a gold star on the  ribbon. I made 2 of them the same.

A little note to my family, friends and anyone living in the path of the hurricane Dorian, keep safe and I hope it isn't as strong as it's threatening for you all.

Tree tealight and amazing pebbles!

Hi Everyone, my card had pieces from these makes. I saw these and thought them cute and decided to make one. I was thrilled although the card used didn't curl as I would have liked. Even so, I was going out with my old work mates and decided to show them what I had made, (they like to see occasionally.) To my surprise they asked me to make between them 4, two for christmas and two "everyday". One for a memorial light. I hope they will like them, I don't see them  again for a couple of weeks.

Here they are
the original pink tree
card - Hunkydory

card - Craft Sensations and Hunkydory

Here are the boxes I decided they would be better in.  I measured them on the Crafters Companion scoring board and stamping with magazine freebie stamps,
which I tried to match to the paper I used as far as I could.
Sorry not good photos we had a dark day and rain today

Here are the pebbles in my title.
We had a rare outing on Monday and came across this gentleman in Porthcawl sorting pebbles and stacking them, we just stood and watched amazed at his patience and how he stacked them in different sizes, how he lifted a few I don't know, they were so large and must have weighed an awful lot, but he still managed to stack and balance them perfectly.

Hollyhocks

Hi Everyone, my card today came about when I saw a card on Amazon and loved it, so I ordered the die, when it was delivered, I cut it out of black scrap card I had to see if it cut correctly, it's been sitting waiting for me to do something with the die.

I was  making a tea light holder, to be shown later, when the circle scraps lit a light in my head, not often that happens by the way LOL. I had my inks and painted a piece onto card, then remembered I had seen in a video, can't remember whose, I'm sorry, they had drawn some black lines, so decided to try it and just added my die cut, a stamped sentiment, it was too long, so cut it, I have just got over - "I can't cut a stamp!". I then decided to 3D the layer. Such a simple card for me.

hollyhock die - unknown
circles - Hunkydory card
ink - Ranger spun sugar
sentiment stamp - magazine freebie

Graduate

Hi Everyone, my card today for the Limited Runs Progressive Challenge where this month we had extra images, how generous is that?  You can enter the challenge by buying them for $1 - incredible.

On to my - NOT a card! for a change. I have a digital scrapbook page. I'm not sure if it will be accepted, but I had to use those images with the photo. (It was!)

The images reminded me that I had recently been sent a wonderful video of my GGNiece at play centre. BUT, I didn't have a photo, so I had to learn how to get a single frame from the video and convert to a photo, this is the one I chose. The scrapbook is a template I followed. I thought the title could be her in the future?
apples and worms - Limited Runs
scrapbook template - Aziko (too cute layout)
background number paper - Just So Scrappy Designs
all put together in Photoshop CS6

Owl Congratulations

Hi Everyone,  my card today is one I made for my GNephew, who did really well in his exams. I had this image as a freebie and decided to use it for his card, you know "wise owl".

Anyhow, this image for made for the Foil Quill in mind, so that is what I used.

I had the Cameo to draw the image with the gold foil and at the same time draw the congratulations sentiment too. Then, had the Silhouette pen to outline the foiled text. The Cameo cut the frame of the owl at the same time as the outer gold layer card. I copied the size of  the centre of the owls eyes and made a circle to add to the owls eyes out of the gold card. I added it to the red card flat, as it had to be posted. The black and gold paper is glued to the base card.

Foil Quill - large pen
gold mirror card - stash
red textured card - Dovecraft
paper background - Modern Deco - Dovecraft

I had to take the sunset on 21st August, I always like sunsets, they are so beautiful and as our bungalow faces West we are lucky to see them from our home over the mountain.
This was the first on I took

then the colour intensified and spread a little further, so a closeup was called for!

Darts!

Hi Everyone my card today is for

So many ways flight can be interpreted, looking through my stamps, nearly all unused! I found a magazine freebie set and noticed darts! Yep! they are flights right? And that is how this came about. Quite a simple card and stamping is something I am starting to enjoy. Who would have thought?

stamps - magazine freebies,
(so Grateful for my Tonic/Tim Holtz stamping platform)
dart board inked with Stazon and then
Versafine ink and clear embossed and fussy cut.
card - Crafters Companion watercolour card
sparkle pens - Sheena Douglass
I based it on a Freshly Made Sketch FMS10

Finding masculine card difficult? There is a lot of inspiration over at the challenge, my Teammates are so clever. Also look at the entries, my! we have some clever ladies out there. See you there?

I saw this on Elizabeth Dulembas blog and thought it apt for us, at those times without mojo.

Seed head

Hi Everyone, my card today is for the Outlawz Sketch challenge, just hope I have the right sketch this time LOL.

I have done more stamping! What I hear you say, what's going on? Anyway, following the sketch, I wanted to use these papers and kept going to Christmas images? so I used the papers by designing the sketch in Photoshop and went searching through my very underused stamps. I found this stamp that almost copied the background paper seed head. The sentiment was also in the set,  how lucky was that? I stamped onto the printed paper, coloured with inks and added sparkle pen to the seed heads, ribbon and a button that has been hanging around for years! I also added a couple of dry embossed lines. The top layer was 3D'd.
digi papers - KimB Designs
stamps - magazine freebies
ribbon/button - stash
inks - Ranger - fired brick / mowed lawn
sparkle pens Spectrum Noir

Tissue box & more piccies

Hi Everyone, I've not had any mojo, and have promised you I would make something, after seeing Carol's tissue box, it set me thinking that I had a file in my Cameo files, so off to check and found this. Thanks Carol :)

Silhouette Design Store 3d square tissue box with mats
Artist: Jamie Cripps Design #:64921
card - Centura Pearl
paper - Craft Sensations
I was going to add "feeling under the weather!"
but thought it good as it is, to display in our LR.

I felt good, I was productive, but not too much concentration, except when I added the over box to the tissue box it was 5mm to small for this particular box, so just enlarged the file and cut another box, luckily the rest hadn't been cut, from then on it was just easy to put together.

here are the umbrella pieces and put together.

the piccies that follow are of the Acers demise!
The last branches. I am so sad. However as we were cutting up the branches and leaves, we noticed a long of fungus on the branches and a lot that were already dead, so in a way the tree losing it's limb in the wind, warned us it was sick and needed felling. Doesn't make it easier for me, I was VERY attached to it and hoped it would last for our lifetime at least. I can be quite a sentimentalist sometimes!

and it's gone!

Angel

Hi Everyone, nothing to show you, due to major lack of mojo.
I am looking through the files and stamps and dies I have, I pick something up and then my mind goes blank. However I thought maybe you would like some photos to peruse? If not just look at my card LOL I don't want to bore you.

The card is one made for a friend of mine a couple of months ago and not blogged, she "insists" I make an angel card each time for her, whatever the occasion. This was for her birthday. I am running out of angels in my files, so will have to look around for a few LOL.
Angel and other elements, ready coloured - Design Bundles
layers were print and cut on the Cameo
sparkle pens - Spectrum Noir
silver mirror card - stash

this is to show the sparkle, but I had sent it to her before
 realising the photo was blurred!

Maybe last year or the year before we had a visit from a Green Woodpecker, we have had it visit twice this week, I was excited to see it. The bird this morning stayed for three quarters of an hour on our lawn, until my son decided to go outside! Oh! well, I just hope he will return. Just a couple of photos of his visit.

Also a rare visitor this week a Nuthatch,

here with a Coal Tit

AND a butterfly! I love the colour combination here, he only landed a short while and off before I could get more photos.

Last but not least our pots of flowers out in the back garden, we haven't had these large begonias before and they just keep flowering and growing, quite a show.

I hope you've enjoyed your visit today and like the photos. I promise to get my hands into something soon. There I've said it - so I HAVE too.

Card and Storm!

Hi Everyone, what a day we have had here, high winds and very heavy rain, although this afternoon the rain left us for a while, but left the winds behind. I'll add a video on what happened to our beautiful Acer, while we were having breakfast this morning, however for those not interested - a card!

I try and join the Outlawz sketch challenge as often as I can and this week I decided to join making a card for another GNiece.
paper is a candle template from PixelScrapper
on which I added colours in Photoshop
sentiment - print and cut on Silhouette, with Quill pen on "15" with silver foil
circle die - Tonic
bow - Lil Inkers die
flower die - Sue Wilson
button die - First Edition
silver mirror card - stash

this is the sketch I followed
from The Outlawz
EDIT - Wrong sketch, this was from the previous sketch aarrggh!

this is my inspiration for the colours

Now for my video of the storm and a few piccies too! It looks like the tree will have to be cut down as the centre had split and hubby had strapped it together, but the split is bigger and for safety sake it will be cut down, this storm saw the end of it I'm afraid. We are so sad about it as we planted it 25 years ago as a twig!

you can see the extent of the split in the lower trunk, it now goes to the root. Luckily hubby has the runner beans tied up.

I didn't get the sketch challenge, but I did get Festive Fridays

Super Hero

Hi Everyone, I saw a challenge I thought may be fun and then remembered I hadn't sent a card to a neighbour of ours, (which I usually do) and thought it would be fun to make this for him.

All paper and elements - Marcela Cocco@ PixelScrapper
Super Hero, "burst through hole" and sentiment were
print and cut on Silhouette Cameo 2,  3 layers and then 3D'd
sentiment from the web and added in Photoshop,
where I typed up the sentiment and placed the squares for the tick,
a PS shape!

This is the insert, I forgot to take the photo before
writing on the card, so have blurred it.

Lion Stencil

Hi Everyone, my DT card today is for the celebration of our Male Challenge which is 6 years old. My contributions have been, as DT, from June 2016. I love making masculine cards, with so many men in the family I have too. I was brought up in a house with 4 brothers, Father and Grandfather, my Mum and I being the only women, so a little understanding of men comes easy. (Their mostly little boys, no matter what their size!) LOL

An easy challenge for you this month and great inspiration for the Male cards some of you find difficult to make, the DT are fantastic and you'll also get inspiration from the challenge entries - I hope to see you there.

We have a sponsor for this challenge, the wonderful
Funky Fossil
Funky Fossil
who is giving 3 of her amazing stencils as a prize.

This is my card, using a few techniques I haven't done before, am I getting experimental at last? LOL.

I have seen quite a few stencils by Funky Fossil used on some blogs I follow, so I decided to bite the bullet and buy one to use in our challenge and, seeing as my son's 43rd birthday is just a few days away and he is a Leo, I used her fabulous and masculine "Geometric Lion". I didn't have any stencil paste, so went on line and found I could make my own with this link YouTube. It worked great and even a few days later, it's still usable in it's sealed plastic container.

background stamps - Ranger Dylusions magazine freebies
pigment ink - Whispers Dovecraft (many years old)
stencil Geometric Lion - Funky Fossil Designs
textured card - Dovecraft
texture paste - homemade
metallic rub ons - Craf-T Products
background paper - stash
embossing folder, modern stripe - Craftwell
sentiment stamp - magazine freebie and words outlined with Unipin fineliner
embossing powder - Dovecraft

this is the effect with the rub on metallics, I used gold and rose gold

Wiper card!

Hi everyone, a different card today. I saw this card on Lori Whitlock's web page and decided to make it, it turned out OK I think, although I could have placed the balloons pop up a little better, but it was a last minute card that I should have done before and had to get in the post. I'm sure the effect of the balloons popping up when opened, will be noticed more than the placement though LOL - hopefully! It was made for one of my GNieces.

card and design - Lori Whitlock
papers - Craft Sensations
cut on the Silhouette Cameo
glitter glue - Stickles

Watercolour Poppies

HI Everyone, my DT card today is for the Morgans Artworld ATG Challenge all details below.

My card today uses the poppies image and I printed it out and then water coloured it, something I've not been successful in before. I've been watching some tutorials and they say to dry the print before using the water colours, so heat gun out and it worked! LOL. I also used blue for an outline background, I wasn't sure about the colour, but I think it's OK. I'm quite pleased with the overall result and feel more confident to do it all again.

I cut out the oval frame and a leaf of the stamp to overlap it, to add a little interest. I thought the sentiment could be used for lots of purposes.

poppy digi - Morgans Artworld
sentiment stamp - Stamps by Me
oval frame card - Centura Pearl
spot background card - Hunkydory
red card - Dovecraft
ribbon - stash
