Stars and Stripes

Hi Everyone, from wet and cold Wales, well I say cold, it's 15C, but for a summer day I want SUN and real warmth. Oh! well, we could be worse I suppose, we could be flooded as in India.

On to my card, as you know I love Elizabeth Dulemba images on her colouring book page here well here is another, I wanted to make a birthday card, so looked through my digi images and this cupcake image popped out at me.  I used Make a Wish papers and elements by M. Turnidge at Scraporchard.  Great bright happy papers I thought, I then coloured and shaded the cupcakes in PS to match the paper colours and paper pieced the stand also in PS.  The papers were added to the card and the circle and stars are put on 3D stickers.  The ribbon I am thrilled to say matched exactly with the stripe.

I will also add this to Elizabeth Dulemba gallery.

EDITED thrilled to say, ELizabeth chose me as featured card in her weekly newsletter.

80th birthday card

Hi everyone,  after a miserable wet and wintry day, at least my son's room is nearly ready, a new carpet and bed and it should be wonderful. You are probably wondering why I am so excited by this, well my son is bipolar and it has been extremely hard the last 5 years to even get him out of his room apart from food, so to get him out of it AND help with the decoration is a wonderful leap forward, the funny thing is he is absolutely shattered, shows a little work helps with the mind. LOL.

My card for today is one I shan't be entering into a challenge as I don't think it would fit into a criteria, but thought I would show it anyway.

I was asked by one of the girls in the office to make a card for her Aunt who was to be 80, she wanted something from the series "The Midwives" on it, as the lady had been a midwife in the era of the series.  The papers are from "You make me Smile" a digi kit by elle designs, I used an Embossalicious embossing folder to make the rose design on one of the papers, I downloaded the picture from the BBC.  I printed and cut the papers to layer them and used a Spellbinders shape to put the 80 into. Then just added Those were the days to the front.  Hope you like it.

Dress card

HI Everyone, what a beautiful day, it was supposed to be the hottest day of the year so far, not in our part of the world it wasn't, very warm and windy with threatening clouds was the order of the day.

Only a quick post tonight, as we have been stripping my son's room today, after numerous attempts to get him out of the room, so that it could be done. WOW what a difference already and not yet finished.

Anyhow onto the cards. well 2, but the same design as you can see, (I used Katina Killey card here as inspiration ummm! cased one, which I can't find on her blog)

I used a Digistamp Boutique dress with papers layered in PS, the papers are from  Elledesigns, a really bright digi kit.  The sentiment, which I love, is from Create with TLC.  After I had printed it out, I printed another dress and layered it 3D.  Now as you probably know, it's quite unusual for me to do CAS cards, but I thought these didn't need anything more.

Engagement card

Hi Everyone, I have had the least mojo week I have had for ages, I haven't made one single card or even wanted too, perhaps it's something to do with our miserable "summer" weather, we even had the heating on last night.

WARNING! I am adding some flowers from the garden I took in the 2 or 3 days summer we had a couple of weeks ago.  Also a couple of our bird visitors, which give us so much joy to watch.

Well at least I have a card to show you, I made a couple of weeks ago.  Quite simple but thankfully the couple were thrilled.

The digi torn vellum background is by sbbvintageartistry, I can't tell you more sorry, as I have the file dated 2005.  The heart I have saved under someones name, but when I went to link it, I couldn't find it on her blog, could someone confirm where I got it from please? it's also a cut file, but I used it here with the png file also in the same file, I love the swirls in the heart.  I put the couples names into the centre of the heart and cut a couple from a digi silhouette freebie I got from ????? duh! done it again! sorry, must be more careful in saving!  I added some Perlen Pen "pearl drops" to each of the ending swirls.

Anyhow here it is.

Hubby's favourite and I Love the colours of this too

and it's petal spurs, which must be about 1.5 inches long.

Beautiful deep purple
I know this is out of focus, but just to show the lovely pale colours of this variety.

I was thrilled when I realised one of the sparrows had been caught in mid flight

Fathers Day

Hi everyone, hasn't it been the most wonderful few days, I have spent most of my time in the garden reading and lazing, quite rare for me to do this, but today I HAD to do some crafting and thought what can I do, so looked through Feline Playful and found just what I was inspired to do, in fact, so much I could have done a lot more, although I did 4 more. I love making men's cards, must be the 4 brother influence LOL. but, this is what my offering is for you today.

The image is of course Strongman by Mo Manning, perhaps some of us would like a macho man like this????  the digi papers are by Summer Driggs from her Fathers Day set. I have wanted to use this word paper since I had the set, quite a while ago.  I added the buttons, sorry can't remember where I bought them.  I printed the card with the base blue and then added the other papers and the framed "superman".  Oh! yes, I coloured superman in PS.

Wedding card

Hi everyone, I have come in from the beautiful sunshine just to say hello to you all! well there was another reason! but thought I'd say hello and show you a card I did for a baby to her parents on their wedding.

I used a beautiful Mo Manning digi stamp, "The Walker" coloured her in PS, added papers by Pink Petticoat to her dress and the background, and a heart stamp by Dawn by Designs onto the small dot paper. I also added a heart spray into the hands of the baby by Julie C Designs, then 3D'd the baby, I added a lovely ribbon and flower.  I cut the ovals out with my new Xcut nesting die.  I'm happy to say it was loved by her newly married parents.

Masculine card

Hi Everyone, AWOL again, sorry so much emotional stuff going on, that I haven't been in the slightest bit crafty, but the sun has decided it's summer so thought I would come out to play :)

This is going to be a picture heavy post so I'll show you my card and you can miss the rest if you want.  I copied an image off the web for fencers, made them black and cut them out on my Cricut.  The papers are by Just Jamie and her digi kit, "It's a good life."  I cut out all the elements and placed them layered onto the card.
The sketch I followed is by KizzyDizzy Designs

Now for the pretty stuff

We had my brother and SIL for a visit last weekend, I love it when they come, no special things to do, except cleaning, changing the bed, making food etc etc, you know nuffin speshal. LOL.  Anyhow, they came for a special emotional reason that I won't go into, but, on Friday we went for a run in the car over to West Wales, I love the ride and arrival at the sea, even though we ourselves are a 10 minute drive from the sea.  We went to Aberaeron, then onto New Quay and then onto Aberporth, on the very first day of Summer, it was what we all needed, a wonderful journey with beautiful views. Here is record of our stops.

We had to stop at a red light so I took this!!!!

This is Aberaeron at the mouth of the harbour

A gull looking for the fishing boats me thinks?

Aberaeron harbour, I love all the houses painted different colours

I haven't seen ducks in the sea before

This is New Quay the first time this year I have seen people sunbathing and some so red, I expect they suffered the next day.  Look how blue the sea looks, NOT photoshopped at all

New Quay looking the other way!  For some reason, I can't remember why, I didn't  take photos of Aberporth, it was so beautiful too.
