Book Bear

Hi Everyone, sorry for my lack of visits, I'm still not 100% and the beautiful weather we are having is helping me to sit outside to read and relax, I have been forgetting housework etc and saying to heck with it. Which is not me at all, I could get used to it if the weather keeps like this though LOL.

Anyhow my DT project for today is for the new challenge at QKR . After the Summer break it's been decided to have our challenge as bi-weekly. On the 1st and 15th of every month, so you have 2 chances every month to enter the challenge.
We will select two winners each of the weeks
1 using QKR Stampede  or Eureka Stamps image
 and 1 using any image!

Anything Goes every 1st & 15th of the month

Something a little different for me today. I made a bookmark! nothing fancy, but great to keep my pages marked whilst outside. I love this little bear sitting on his books. The photo hasn't come out in the colours very well, he has more colour than this and you can see the shadows more, why does that happen?

I paper pieced him in Photoshop with book papers and coffee papers, both suit each other I thought LOL. I added a couple of elements and of course a tassel.

Quilted Cow

Hi Everyone, having the flu! I have been not very creative. Hubby was ill last week so much so, we both went to have a Covid test, thankfully it is just the flu, however it's had its effect on us, with cough and sneezes by the hundreds! It's so wearing, the years tell when this happens.

Anyhow, I had a visit to Beccy's Place and saw this quilted cow that I just had to have, after seeing, a while ago on the web, a saying, that I saved for future use, I'm sorry I can't give credit. There are both ready coloured and one to colour images, but feeling like I do I used the ready coloured, it's a card for a friend of mine. I found a paper in my files that went to so well with the image, it's as if it's made for it (I thought). I did a print and cut on my Silhouette making it easier to layer like a die, so there are 4 layers of each of the cow and the sentiment, I then used distress ink on the edges to "distress" them a little sorry about the pun. I added 3D gel to the eyes and sparkle pen to the heart flowers. Lots of puns too

Bare tree

Hi Everyone, I seem to be in an Autumnal mood. I was at a loose end on what to do and thought I would have a look at sketches I save, to see if something got me thinking. One in particular caught my eye and I decided to do some real playing.

I have recently bought some Pixie Powders, now I see why quite a few of you have been raving about them. I water brushed a masked area and threw sprinkled them on them on to the wet area. The result blew me away. I hope you like it too.

The next thing? what was I to do on top to complete the sketch? The stamps I used on my last card got me and I stamped a bare tree onto the powders. I then water brushed a piece of card and copied what I had done on the main card, stamped a sentiment and die cut it. A piece of ribbon, when did I use ribbon last? and onto a black layer to match the stamps and my card was complete.

Being a CAS card is unusual for me, but I really like this card and with the result that I never expected.

stamps - Tonic free Simply Cards & Papercraft #208
label die - Tonic

I had to show you, but I expect many, if not all of you, who have used these powders knew, that when I stamped (with Stazon) the powder showed through the stamping, even though I did the watercolour etc. before the stamping. I am mesmerised LOL.
I will enter the challenge of the sketch

Just a little something else -

My Gniece who is off to train as a midwife asked me if I would do a label for a jar she has, to hold 40 baby feet, why 40, because she has to deliver 40 babies before she qualifies. She is three and a half hours from us, so it had to go into the post asap. I emailed her a few ideas and she liked this one then sent her it and instructions/ What am I on about?  she's a teen she'll know what to do and think me a fussy old woman including instructions.

Anyhow here is her choice of design and colour of vinyl. I cut it out of gold vinyl on my Silhouette and added it to transfer paper so all she has to do is place it onto the jar. The backing comes off and she just adds the image and the transfer sheet to the jar, then removes the transfer sheet. I cut the shape the same size as the area she needs to cover on the jar, the image will then fit the jar - IF I have done it properly.

I had finished this post and then received an email with the jar finished, she's a clever girl.

Autumn

Hi everyone, my magazine subscription came with the most beautiful stamps, so I had a play. I've seen lots of cards with stamps around the edge of card recently so thought I would have a go. I'm not sure I've succeeded, but I still quite like it. I had a couple of pieces of spare card on my desk so went with the colours of those and added a little green. I used the sentiment included in the pack and added a birthday sentiment with more of the card. I thought it needed something with the red card so I embossed it. It already had a curved corner so I went with that too. Somehow the photo has distorted the card and the centre looks like it's not straight? it is, as I used my T square ruler LOL.

stamps - Tonic, mag freebies
distress inks - Candies Apple, Twisted Citroen, Rusty Hinge
emboss folder - John Next Door, mag freebie
sentiment - mag freebie
Kraft card - Dovecraft
red card - Lidl
I know I followed a sketch, but have forgotten which - sorry.

Travel TMR #142

Hi Everyone our challenge today is to do with travel and as it hasn't been possible to do much of it this year for all the obvious reasons!  I think a dream travel will do for me, so I'm off to somewhere that is green today!

I have had this image a long while and bought him when the designer was closing down. I love the "bumptious" image. With the theme as Travel, he had to be used. I used the embossing folder in my subscription magazine, for the background. I found the tent in my files, (he's off glamping), the suitcase I made in Silhouette, so simple, it took about 4 rectangles to make it. I found the fabulous sentiment online, it's a quote by W. C Fields.

I really wanted to try and brayer the EF, but I didn't have a brayer, so I asked hubby if he had one in his tools - Yep! a wallpaper roller, which we used to press the edges of wallpaper when hanging the pieces - so many years ago. It's only one and half inches, but cleaned up, it worked a treat, especially as my inks are only the one inch size. Hubby saved me a few pounds there!

2 DT cards

Hi Everyone, I have 2 DT cards today this is for

Anything Goes but
they MUST feature a critter

Whether Furry, Feathered, Fantasy, Fairytale, Scaly, or Insect, there must be a critter featured...

... and

We are excited to be sponsored this month by
the company which handles digi stamps from both
Eureka Stamps and QKR Stampede!

 Stamp On It
My card today is with the thinking of, it's been a hard year for everyone and I believe Ice Cream helps? As you can see, the wonderful image is giving you an ice cream and I've added a spoon so you can eat it LOL. I looked for some sprinkles in my files and found this sprinkle paper, another forgotten file. I copied the colours onto my image and painted him. I tried the "fur" effect with dotting the ink, I'm not entirely sure it was successful.

I cut him out with an oval die and as I had printed the image out a little large, I cut the die around his foot and ear. I then added a pen "stitched" line into the die, as I didn't have enough room to layer. The papers were cut out with a die, as was the sentiment. The spoon was cut out on the Cameo.

coloured - Distress Inks
dies -  Sue Wilson Noble & Tonic
sentiment - TLC creations
spoon - Aida Scrap Designs,
I added the image to the Cameo design space and traced the spoon,
then cut out of mirror card and shaped it.

hopefully you can see the shape of the spoon here.

here are the spoon sizes after cutting out of scrap mirror card

My #2 DT post today

Hi Everyone, my second post for today and it's for the
New challenge at QKR and it's my DT card
We will select two winners each week 1 using QKR Stampede
or Eureka Stamps image and 1 using any image!

We have changed our challenge to the 1st of every month for the Summer,
on a trial basis but, it's still Anything Goes.

Anything Goes every 1st of the month

I have had this bunny a while and had to use it for the challenge, I think she is so cute! She has to be a she, as she has the most beautiful bow around her.  The paper set had individual flowers, so before printing her out I added the clover to her paw and paper pieced the paper into the bow.

I coloured her, and then fussy cut her out and 3D'd her onto the centre, which had been die cut around the wreath. I also used a die to cut the background paper, placing blue card for layering, I was lucky enough to find a piece of ribbon just the right shade of blue to match.
