Magpie stamping

Hi Everyone, more stamping from me, I may get to like it LOL. In fact this is my first go at masking a stamp, I'm thrilled it worked, not as good as you lovely stampers, but it's a start.

A story about the magpie first, I think it has a bad press, only because we have had a family of magpies for the last few years, they are wonderful parents, this year there are 3 chicks and the parents visit every day with the chicks, they teach them how to feed, how to take water and how to bathe in the bird baths we have.

What I didn't know and only recently found out was that, (this is from the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds) "They fledge after 26 to 30 days, and are fed by the parents for a further four weeks after leaving the nest. The young birds stay in the parents' territory until September or October, when they form loose flocks, feeding and roosting together."

They have a fluorescent black & blue wings and tail and shine in the sunlight, I tried to copy that shine with a little clear sparkle pen, shame you can't see it.
Here is one of the chicks today, the others flew away as I went to take the photo, as always!

OK! I'm boring you now, onto my card, I hope it's CAS enough.

I saw a challenge that I have admired a long time and didn't do stamping to join in, well I have stamped today, so I am joining in! Here's my card -
stamps - magazine freebie
coloured with Nuvo water colour pencils
Clear sparkle pen - Spectrum Noir
die - Tattered Lace
background sentiment - using WRMK Quill pen and
 silver foil with Silhouette Cameo.
Uniball white pen for highlights on birds

Get me out of here!

Hi Everyone, no! I didn't me for you to get me out, just the kitty that is on my card LOL.

This card is for the Limited Runs Progressive challenge  this is the image we were given to play with and I had fun playing with it too. I decided he was playing as a parrot! So I caged him and added a sentiment I thought would be fun.
kitty playing - Limited Runs digital stamps
coloured in Photoshop CS6 and print and cut with
the Silhouette Cameo, cutting 3 layers of the Kitty
and 3D layering the glued together layers.
adding Spectrum Noir clear sparkle pens to the "stand!"
background paper - Marisa Lerin Pixelscrapper
bird cage - Birds Cards free svg file,
I added Uniball gold sparkle pen to give the cage a little gold sparkle.
The cage is layered 3 times on 3D dimensionals.
sentiment - my own computer generated,
cut and layered then using a corner punch

you can see the layers in this photo and the curve of the cage.

And, as I am showing you a bird cage I thought I would show you a couple of visitors to our garden this week. We usually have these birds in the garden, but in a flock of about 15 of each - a definite NO! I rushed to get my camera as there were a number fighting to get at the feed and nuts, with at least 6 on the seeds and more on the nuts, when I had my camera ready they decided they had better fly into the nearby tree, so these are all I could get.

these are the Blue Tits

this is a Long Tail Tit, looking quite young and hanging on for dear life LOL.

Surfs Up Dude!

Hi Everyone, my DT card today is for

I had so much fun with this card, it will go to my adventurous GNephew who, at this moment, is on a trip around the Australian coastline. When he gets back to his home in Sydney, I'll send it.

I had a few choices of images that I have in my files, but decided to go with this wonderful gnome surfer, layered 3 times and placed on a 3D frame, the ball and sentiment were also layered 3 times.

frame, background and ball- Hugware, Laurie Furnell, fussy cut
 (no longer available)
Gnome - Larry-Surf'sUp - Lacey Sunshine

Over the top card

Hi Everyone, I did this tutorial for the TTCRD magazine last year, so I thought I would share it with those who hadn't read it.

I designed the card in Silhouette, by making a shape for a 6x6 card = 6x12 rectangle. I added the elephant head shape by ScrappinbyKris to the rectangle and welded it to make the shaped card. I arranged the shapes of the elephant and used my Silhouette Cameo to cut the parts out. I coloured parts of it with Spectrum Noir marker pens, I used a Martha Stewart border punch for the border and computer generated the sentiment.

1. first place all pieces of card in colours required,
I placed them all for this card.

2. after being cut out remove from the mat

3. fold the white card and cover with chosen paper,
add the ears and other parts to the head shape onto the white card

4. layering with 3D pads on the trunk

5. add the border punch and sentiment

6. finished card!

Electric socket thanks

Hi Everyone, another card I found while going through my files, that I haven't posted, it was a thank you card for the electricians who worked on our new kitchen.
I had seen a USA version on Pinterest,
but adapted the design to the UK version of electric sockets in Silhouette.
I think the background paper is off the web
sentiment designed in Photoshop CS6

this is the insert

If anyone would like the Silhouette cut file of the socket and plug,
I am more than happy to send it to you.

leaf die - Tattered Lace
cut and layered onto card
label die - Card Making Magic
watercolour pencils - Nuvo Brilliantly Vibrant

Balloon birthday

Hi Everyone, well! we have Summer at last, although only for a few days, but gorgeous weather the last couple of days.

Anyhow you are here to see my card? I made it a couple of months ago and forgot I hadn't posted it, so here it is, I have to thank Jennifer Mcguire for the inspiration for this quick card.

I designed the balloon in Silhouette and cut both the balloon and and sentiment out to place onto the card, I added some bakers twine and it was done. Just as well as I had completely forgotten a GNephews birthday, so a quick card was needed and handed to him later that day without him knowing I had forgotten whew!
card - Dovecraft
glitter pen - Spectrum Noir
bakers twine - stash

I managed to catch the incredible view of the eclipsed moon last night, it was awesome, I had to go for a walk before seeing it, as we have a lot of trees around us and the moon was low in the sky. Such a shame that I didn't take my camera just my phone to take the photos, I thought it would be better, I should have known better. These are a couple of what I took, just a shame they are so blurred. However I saw it in all it's glory and wonderful red colour.

Lemons?

Hi Everyone, a card made in the mood that I felt! I made it for the Outlawz Sketch Challenge, I haven't visited there in a while and it helps me so much with designing a card.

Anyhow as things have been difficult recently, I was looking through my files for something bright to make for the challenge and to cheer me up, I actually saw the border image first which looked like the ribbon we were shown was on the sketch, it went from there, the sentiment outside and inside reflected what I felt then. I'll keep the card to send to someone going to through rough times too LOL. The card is made up of  digi images and papers printed and cut on the Silhouette Cameo.
Digital kit - "Squeeze" Amanda Creations
front elements 3D'd
insert sentiment - the web
gem - stash

Christmas card in July #2

Hi Everyone, keeping up with the Christmas in July theme, it's doing me good, at least I have started making the dreaded Christmas cards. I decided to do a wobble card. I don't use these colouring book images enough, they are fun and easy LOL.

I also thought I would show you a bird doing what to me is a strange thing?

On to my card.
image - Elizabeth Dulemba colouring pages
coloured in PS CS6, for some reason the yellow is orange and the orange is red in the photo, maybe because it was very heavy cloud when taken?
sentiment - Create with TLC
tree background - Marisa Lerin Pixelscrapper
wobbly eyes - stash
Action Wobble for movement #julyawc
wire glued to star and back of tree to hold star.

Now for the bird a pigeon!
The photos were taken from inside the conservatory, he settled down on top of the box hedge making himself very comfortable and stayed for about half an hour, I've never seen this happen before, they usually stay for a feed and jump at the slightest noise, but nothing seemed to startle him. Then he just flew away. I thought he may be injured at first, but there was no problem with his flying. Maybe it was a female practising nesting?

Christmas in July

Hi Everyone, my DT post today is LATE! my apologies to my Teammates, but I had an emergency with my son, he lives with us, so it had to be dealt with immediately. He is OK and safe now and that is why I haven't been visiting, so with huge apologies to everyone, I hope that normality can resume now!

Enough of all that, here's my DT card for

For some reasons Blogger isn't letting me add a photo to my post, anyone else having problems? I can't even add placement ie. left centre right, without a lot of carfuffle, I'll try and add it again tomorrow, but I have to get this to the Male Room, EDIT, tried today and it worked - contrary thing LOL

I used magazine freebies of the stocking, the stamps and
 the cable embossing folder
paper - Wonderland by Helz Cuppleditch
You can see my card on -

Dandelions

Hi Everyone, I hope you're all OK.

I saw a challenge I hadn't entered for ages, hence today's card. I have seen so many dandelions and daisies looking like jewels on the side of the road, I decided to make something with my digi stamp and here it is. I think it will brighten my Goddaughters day, at least I hope so.

Dandelion Sprite - Aurora Wings
coloured in Photoshop CS6
Dandelion watercolour images - Creativefabrika
doodles background paper - Creative Market

scraps?

Hi Everyone, I have been lacking mojo for a long time, but just hanging in there to make something, well yesterday morning I decided to have a clear out, I wasn't going to use those scraps in the box on my desk was I? Nope, they had to go, but, I may as well have a look at what I had first, you have to don't you?

It turned out that I used 2 of my scraps and actually really liked my card in the end. I did a stamping the other day that I thought had gone into the bin, I had water coloured it and decided I didn't like the pale colours, I had also done a Silhouette cut file, which in the end I didn't know what to do with, they both appear here!
"Made with Love" stamp flowers and sentiment - Stamps by me
water colour pencils - Nuvo Brilliantly Vibrant Pencils
Silhouette cut file - Wonky Plaid, Paige Evans,
swiped over with old Whispers Ink pads,
I used the white paper part under the inked cut file, for the sentiment
gold card - stash
Kraft card - Dovecraft
cross stitch embossed card - stash
the photo doesn't do it justice, it's so pretty in real life and the stamping doesn't look as pale as it did on it's own!

Retro!

Hi Everyone, my DT post today lets me go back to my late teens / early twenties, I was brought up without phones in the homes, it was letters or a phone box for contacting anyone. When hubby and I had our own home after 5 years of saving and of marriage, we had our own telephone in the house, not that there were many people to call LOL. Ah! how times change, now everyone is attached to their phone inside and outside the home.

Anyhow on to my card.

I felt I had to use the colour of the first phone we had and a retro wallpaper, can you believe we had similar paper on the walls of our homes like this? The doily was also on the table, usually made by MiL or Aunt, they worked beautiful crochet. I still have some of their work.
telephone - Morgans Art World
coloured in Photoshop CS6, fussy cut and 3D'd
paper - Sweet Digi Scraps Designs
wood effect paper - Kim Broedelet
doily - A. Wolff designs
all from a Pixel & Co blog hop August 2014
sentiment - with gradient effect to match wallpaper, 3D'd.

the design was influenced by this sketch
