Hi Everyone, my DT post for today is
I have a few cars and train dies and stamps, but decided after seeing a scrap of tin in my stash, to die cut this wonderful car. I had enough over to cut the holly.
The tin is left over from something I did years ago, just as well I kept it. I had cut a can of drink and then burnt it with the gas stove I had at the time. It gives lovely shading when done, as you can see, I hope. It's an old technique that I'm sure most of you would have done at some time.
I also used for the background, an embossing folder, which to me showed the journey. I made an error as I had actually die cut the circle, I then did the embossing and did it on the wrong side, so it was debossed! Do I cut again, no! I decided to colour the deboss trees with gold ink to match the tin car, and I think it turned out OK.
I stamped the sentiment and embossed it in gold onto the debossed image and die cut another circle layer from rose gold card, and added ribbon which just about matched. Thinking to make the card into a parcel? Simple, but I'm happy with it.
Hi Faith, of all the things I have seen, this isn't one of them, how wonderful does your car look, what a fabulous idea, I just love it.xx
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea using the metal for the truck image Faith, your one of the few people I know who don't stress over male cards, I know I do.

ReplyDeleteWOW!! A masterpiece! You achieved an amazing masculine feel with this card, so elegant and clean! Absolutely love the effect of gold on the debossing and I'm very impressed by the stunning, beautiful car. I always recycle items, but have never tried with cans, I will have a go! Amazing colour burning it!
ReplyDeleteWow the metal effect is just brilliant Faith. Love the whole layout of this card!
ReplyDeleteFabulous design, Faith! This is one of the best masculine cards I have seen in a while! Very nicely done!

I like your ‘debossed’ trees! I have that truck die and I love it! Although I don’t think I’ll try the tin technique as I’m the type of person that would slice off a finger whilst trying! X
ReplyDeleteOh, how fabulous!! Love the scene with the truck in gold!! Great design, too!!
ReplyDeleteI have seen this technique used before, but I've never tried it. I want to though because I have seen first hand how the metal changes and it is beautiful. Your card is stunning Faith! I'm glad you didn't recut your circle because the debossed looks just as good and I love the way you highlighted the trees with the gold, pulls it all together. Love, love, love this stunning card, really love that truck die too! Who makes it? Hugs, Brenda
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful card! I love the truck and the pretty gold paper.
ReplyDeleteLove it, Faithie, TWO-TONE TIN! heehee
ReplyDeleteVery effective, actually! You went with your oops and got ahhhh!
I remember seeing others do that technique and as we have a gas stove I guess I could do it. And Lord knows I have enough Diet Coke cans for it and a hubby who would cut open the cans. But I have no desire, plus I have a ton of metallic card stock sitting unused. Go figure!
Hope y'all are comfy and cozy. My Arfurs come and go, today was good, tomorrow who knows? lol, XOX
Brilliant card Faith the car and the coordinating embossing look fabulous together. I still have some very thin metal sheets which I bought years ago for card making. I used to heat them with a heat gun to get the colour effect. Must try to find them when I get back as it is a lovely technique, thanks for the reminder ! xx
ReplyDeleteFantastic Faith, I LOVE the tin truck and never heard of that technique, so I have learned today, thank you, love the shine and your card design..

ReplyDeleteFabulous Christmas card Faith .. love the metallic look, and what a happy accident with the debossing as the gold accents on the background look perfect

ReplyDeleteI've made a few card with the die cuts you kindly sent me, but had not thought to use it like this. It's a fabulous design, thanks for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteWow, what a stunning card, I would love to see it in the flesh, as it were, I bet really stands out amidst the rest of the birthday cards. Amazing technique with the drink can.

This look wonderful Faith, and what a great idea to use the tin to cut the pickup truck, and heating it as added a lot of colour variation, and the debossed and coloured background goes perfectly. x
ReplyDeleteSuch a handsome card Faith! LOVE!
