Hello Everyone, what a week we have had! We decorated our bedroom before our new bed came, then Hubby found a water leak under the fridge, which thankfully had gone backwards into the wall and into a cupboard, not into the kitchen, although it had gone under the hall tiles and they were ruined and had to come up. Again thankfully, they were the original tiles when the house was built and were under our main flooring. However it meant the flooring up and newspaper on the floor for days, to soak up any excess water. The cupboard floor was in a much worse state, so that will take a time to dry! All "stuff" from there now resides in my craft room!
Then, we had a new bed ordered, it came, but the base was damaged and now we have to wait for another. We are waiting for a carpet to be fitted, but the fitter is on holiday. To say we are in a mess is an understatement. OH! well it could have been so much worse, we thought at first the leak meant we would have to dig up the floor in the hall, until hubby found the leak in the kitchen! The plumber fixed it in no time, although it had been leaking for a long while, considering the cupboard.
I have a wonderful Guardian Angel, she gives me different things to think about sometimes. Then says OK, it won't be as bad as you think. Bless her, yep! she is a she! Although it could be someone like Clarence (in the film A Wonderful Life).
Anyhow, my card is one I forgot to post, it was for my lovely SiL. I thought it suited her. It was her ahem! 81st birthday card! She, like me would remember this fashion. I have had this image since 2012 and haven't got a clue from where, so if anyone knows, I can update the info here.
Happy birthday to your SIL ---fabulous card and image, love the P.paper and perfect sentiment---Hope you get your home sorted soon

ReplyDeleteOh Faith, sending massive hugs to you because although you are sounding cheerful, it must be a nightmare :/ I expect you've been tempted to tell everyone you're going into your craft room and not coming out until it's all been sorted! Hats off to your Guardian Angel - I think mine is more like Harvey from the film of the same name!! The card is superb and oh my goodness what a glamorous image! Love the funny sentiment too. Vicky x
ReplyDeleteHi Faith! First, that is a delightful birthday card and Happy Belated to SIL. The image could have come from anywhere frankly, I can only thing of Gecko Galz and Flonz. Thanks for the chuckle sentiment. Next, oh geez, I hate water leaks, I'm feeling your pain, haven't had one in many years (knocking wood) but every one we have had left its "memory" mark somewhere, lol. I admire you and your angel's outlook on it, hope she doesn't abandon you before it's all done and hoping your bed gets delivered undamaged this time and soon! That would be my Honey's WORST inconvenience, no bed! Hope you can get your craft room cleared out pronto as well. XOX

ReplyDeleteI love this card, Faith, and I definitely remember that style! I still have many of my mother's dress patterns (she made most of her own clothes plus made clothes for the kids) and this is so exactly like what she loved to wear. What wonderful memories you've invoked. Thank you. :-D Wonderful sentiment!
ReplyDeleteThat's a fantastic card, Faith! I love that image! I feel your pain regarding the renos. We're just beginning our reno adventure, and already running into difficulties! :o)

I just love old vintage styles like this card! I come from that generation, so I remember and I just absolutely LOVE the sentiment you put on this card! Fabulous! Chin up on all the household woes, I'm sure they're going to all be worked out soon and you can breathe easier!
ReplyDeleteI was so sorry to hear of your water problems in the comment you left me, Faith. Hubby's daughter had something like that a couple years ago & took forever to get it all fixed/replaced--partly dealing with insurance, of course. Glad you're able to think it could have been worse & hope it's all taken care of soon. Thank you for your kind words. So hard loosing beloved family members. And thank you for posting this wonderful card! Gave me a big chuckle as I didn't expect that sentiment--love it!
ReplyDeleteOMGosh Faith, now I understand what happened! I'm so sorry your fridge leaked and caused all the water problems. One just never knows with these appliances...until you find water. So sorry about the bed base being damaged too. If it isn't one thing, it's another! Glad the plumber fixed that leak in no time, but now comes the drying time I guess and replacing what needs replacing. Hope your carpet can get laid soon too. You have a great Guardian Angel I must say, I would take a Clarence too! lol I am totally in love with your retro card! I remember those fashions well, even though I was young, I remember. Love the background paper, the image and mostly, the sentiment! Never heard that one before and I love, love, love it! So funny, so perfect for your SIL. I will have to try and remember that sentiment, although I probably wont' be able to. lol Retro Elegance for sure! Hugs, Brenda
ReplyDeleteOh goodness! What a tale with the leak. I'm so glad it's not as bad as it could have been, despite the headache and mess.
ReplyDeleteThe card is a fun one and the little pearl embellishments are a lovely touch!
