Floating Alligator

Hi Everyone here I am with my second DT card for today, it's for the challenge at QKR. Our challenge is on the 1st and 15th of every month, so you have 2 chances every month to enter the challenge.

We will select two winners each of the weeks
1 using QKR Stampede  or Eureka Stamps image
 and 1 using any image!

Anything Goes every 1st & 15th of the month

The sun must have been in my mind when I made this, it had been so lovely here in the UK, chilly but blue skies and sun. I have this fun Alligator and had to use this old joke to make the card. I did a print and cut on the digital cutting machine, then coloured it with Distress inks.

The background was done with a stencil the clouds and waves are on the one, so that is great. I didn't make the background too distinct as I thought the Alligator should be centre stage. I added a sun ray stencil and a sun, also cut on the Cameo which was coloured with DI's.

I glued the 3 layers of the Alligator and sun and sentiment (computer generated) to the background, then layered onto gold mirror card and black paper. I then added glaze to his eyes and clear sparkle pen to the sun, rays and dingy.

stamp - Floating Gator Digital Stamp QKR Stampede
inks - Distress inks
stencil - waves, clouds - Funky Fossil Stencil
sun stencil - Wendy Bird Designs cut on Cameo
gold mirror card - The Range
black paper - stash

This is the insert preprinted

  11. Haha, I love that old chestnut Faith and I bet it will raise a laugh on the recipient's birthday! Love the stencilled background and that lazy looking alligator. We had a wonderful walk in the bluebell woods this morning. It may not be a heatwave but it's very pleasant and I'll take cold and bright over rain any day! Vicky x

  18. Ha now that's an entertaining card, Faith! I'm learning, whenever it's time for a QKR challenge, I know to look for whatever wild and crazy animal or person you've chosen for your card. They do have some really fun images. This one takes the cake, though, haha. About 30 minutes away from where I live is an alligator park and sanctuary, and once a year they have a popular Gator Festival. I don't think those gators are as inviting as yours is though, :-) XOX

  20. Faith this is so adorable and punny! Love it.

You asked for any tips when using transfer tape and vinyl. I find it hit and miss sometimes. After picking up the vinyl onto the transfer tape, I position it onto to my card stock and then gently burnish the vinyl through the tape. I then slowly peel away the tape (peeling it back on itself and keeping it close to the card stock). I continue to burnish while peeling the tape away. I hope this makes sense and helps!

    Take care!
