Smile it's your birthday

My blog title means it could be yours! If it is Happy Birthday.

I made this card for someone, then realised I had too many layers and because of the weight, I resisted sending it abroad, call me mean!

I used an image kindly sent to me a while ago by a lovely blog friend. Thank you again, you know who you are. I coloured it with DI's, layered it onto black card, then die cut and stamped the sentiment. I decided it needed more, so used my Silhouette die cutting machine, to cut the film negative shape, and the Smile. In addition, a piece of acetate was placed behind the negative. I didn't think the word stood out enough, so added gold glitter pen. All added to the top corner and the card was finished.

  2. Not mean at all Faith, overseas postage is ridiculous now not to mention unreliable, still awaiting one from before Christmas to arrive in Kenya and one to Noway came back to me a couple of weeks ago despite the addy being correct.

Back to your card, I'm good at digressing, it's a really sweet HM image, coloured perfectly and with that sentiment just makes you 'smile'.

  5. Oh my, this is so cute. I once had this stamp and your card is adorable! The postage rates are going up once again, so I guess we'll all be making flat easy-to-mail cards sooner than later.

  12. I have recently been caught out by putting too much dimension on a card so it ups the postage cost. I will try not to do that anymore as the recent price rises have made me think twice. It would be such a shame if we stop sending our cards abroad though. I love your image and how you have staged and framed it. Perfect xx

  14. Postage prices are ridiculous especially for anything over 5mm so I don't think you are mean and I am sure you sent a equally lovely card instead.

  16. Hello, sweet Faith! First, I'd like to say thank you SO MUCH for all your visits to my blog and for your encouraging words. I really do appreciate you. I just had to stop by to say hello and take a peek at your sweet card. You've challenged me here to pull out some of these house mouse stamps my mom just gave me (my first ever) and this is not my normal style. I'm a bit intimidated when it comes to trying more difficult stamped images because my coloring is not great. Anyway, I'm writing a novel here. I will try to use what I was given. Your card is so sweet, Faith. Have a blessed and creative week.
    Your blog friend,
    Karen

  35. I think we all have changed from what we used to be able to mail anywhere in the world. But it doesn't take thick layers to be a great card & I love this one!
