Floral and scallops and something VERY different

Hi Everyone, I hope you're all enjoying your new found freedom, BUT, carefully!

This is a picture heavy post, just a warning. 😉

My card today was made as I needed something bright and this helped a lot. My blog friend Shirley, who is so generous with her files, gave this out as a freebie. and as it was so different and pretty, I decided to use it for the base of my card.

I cut it out with my digital cutting machine and was going to just add the arrangement as a print and cut, which had been 3D'd layered, except I decided to add DI's to the card in the same colours, but went further and used a new stencil from my magazine with white ink through it.

I went further and splashed some clear sparkle ink on to it all and even through the stencil again. I don't usually "play" like that, I thought maybe it would be a mess, but ended up quite liking it. I stamped the sentiment and added a gold circle to the back of the scalloped circle. I wanted more! the next step was to add a gold glitter pen to the flowers and leaves.

For a playing around card it turned out OK. and I think suitable to send to someone I have in mind.

sparkle pen - Spectrum Noir

After something pretty? Piccies from our garden.
We had the tree surgeon in to take my beloved tree down and -

getting ready to cut

after the cut!

some of the remains

grinding the roots out

- he said you had better see who was living in the tree! This was he -

we decided to add him to the garden and put him amongst pretty things. I may even get hubby to drill out the trunk and put a pot in it for him to have some hair!

I know he looks scary on the first look and someone said he looks like the "Elephant Man", but after having him looking at me for a few days, he's become quite a friend. Bless him.

Isn't Nature incredible to form something like this?

  3. Wonderful card, my friend, and such a fantastic 'new' friend rescued from the old friend you had to have cut down. I'd say serendipity that it wasn't a complete loss. :-D

  4. Oh your card is fabulous, Faith! Love ALL you did to it! I missed WHY y'all had to cut down the tree, was it ailing? My brother-in-law's pecan tree was hit by lightning this week and split in two. I would keep that tree face, too, might be the tree's spirit "animal" and thinks your garden is home! xoxo

  11. What a wonderful card filled with beautiful flowers! as for your tree, so sorry you had to have it removed but what a spooky looking piece was left behind! Beauty is in the eye of the beholder - I'm sure I'd have had the tree surgeon grind it up! It looks like it's in terrible pain?! LOL

  12. Stunning card Faith, I love the colours and the layers. Sometimes when we just play we get our best creations. You should keep your spooky friend and dress him up at Halloween and maybe at Christmas too! x Colette x

  13. I'm all for a bit of 'less is more' usually Faith but you've proved that 'more is more' works too! Love your bright creation.
It must have been hard to watch the tree come down, especially when you saw the 'creature'. When the tree at the entrance to my road came down in a storm, it lay there for a few days before the men came to cut it up and take it away. I felt so sad. Sending hugs, Vicky x

  17. This is just so pretty - I love the effect you've achieved. Sad about the tree but if needs must. We had some trees taken down the other week in the neighbours garden and when the surgeon lowered the trunk to the ground the whole house shook!
