"Wood" you believe it?

Hi Everyone, my DT card today is for -

Last time we had a wood challenge, I did a sign for hubby and his garage door, which by the way is still there as new! I'm pleased to say. Anyhow, this time I have used a completely different piece of wood and "wood" you believe what it is? It's an ice cream stick from a mini version of the larger chocolate ice cream lollypop which begins with an "M".  😀

Our G.Nephew was 13 at the end of the month and I made this for him, he is a character, so I knew he would enjoy the pun and the colours, (he did).
I printed and cut the papers and layered them onto black card. I coloured the sticks with Distress inks with colours similar to the striped paper and I added some wobbly eyes to them. I then added 3D gloss to the red words on the sentiment.  I saw the sentiment on the web so cased it.

papers - Digital Press
sentiment - the web
recycled lolly sticks
Distress inks - Mermaid Lagoon, Crushed Olive, Abandoned coral
wobbly eyes - stash
3D gloss - Nuvo Crystal Drops

What "Wood" you make for our challenge?  I hope to see you there.

  1. Happy Early birthday to your grandson. 13 is a difficult age for both kid and parent, but not for grandparents ;-) Fabulous card I'm sure he'll love it.

  15. What a fun and genius card Faith! I can see why your G. Nephew loved it. The sentiment is so dang clever and I love that you actually used real wooden ice cream sticks. Might they be from a Magnum ice cream bar?? I love the striped paper and love that you made your stick match it. The googly eyes are so fun and add whimsy to this card. Clever gal you are! Hugs, Brenda

  28. Great card, Faith! We call those ice cream spoons over here. They are for eating ice cream that is sold in the little individual paper containers, like in schools and such. Lolly sticks made me giggle. A definite cultural difference there, lol. So cute putting googly eyes on them. I am right now making my Honey's birthday card and adding a piece of glossy card stock of wood planks on it just so I can do this challenge, so I had to smile. I should just say, yes, M'am, I will! heehee XOXOX
