water stamping?

Hi Everyone, a little more stamping, I saw a tutorial on craft TV and decided to try it, I don't think it was successful, but I thought why not show you? Anyhow, the technique was to use distress inks and spray water on the stamps before stamping, which I did, but I didn't have a fine spray and I think a little too much water spread further than I wanted, but as hubby liked it (he may be biased LOL) I decided to use them as cards. I added them to a DL size card. I have SO much to learn about stamping! I wonder if I have the patience? On a wet, windy, wintery day in July seems I do!

I didn't know what colours to use, so decided to have a look on the web at what colour combos people used for this stamp, I found what I liked HERE
stamps - Altenew Majestic Blooms
inks - Distress inks
carved pumpkin, ripe persimmon, rusty hinge
tumbled glass, broken china, mermaid lagoon
sentiment - magazine freebie

We had a visitor this week, he has been a visitor before and stays a long time, nearly half an hour a time. Yep! we have a lot of ants in the lawn, his favourite snack I believe. It's the Green Woodpecker.

AND, our clematis didn't flower in the Spring as usual, however it's decided to give us a wonderful Summer show, with plenty of buds to come again.

  2. A beautiful card Faith, great stamping and lovely colours.
Super photographs, there seems to be a lot more wildlife around at the moment - we have seen lots of birds of prey over our house recently.

  6. I think your card turned out quite lovely and I do like that color combo too! I have so much to learn too about stamping and the digital world and I'm lagging far behind! Love the woodpecker and I love when they visit my yard too because then we have no ants in the house! Your clematis is gorgeous and I've never had luck with growing them, but they are so lovely in your garden!

  9. This is fabulous! The color combination is one that always yields great visual impact. I like that everyone is doing "tall" cards these days even though the nomenclature has been changed to call them slimline!

Your floral motif is perfect for my challenge at A Place To Start - We looking for floral themes. Hope to see you there! https://hereisaplacetostart.blogspot.com

  10. Hi, Faith!
This truly is a beautiful card. I just noticed that you have these colors in your header so the blue and burnt orange motif was probably somewhere in your muscle memory! The sentiment is perfectly placed and I love that you decided not to stamp it directly onto the card. It has far more impact through this treatment. Thanks so much for sharing this pretty design with us at A Place to Start!

  12. I think a fine mister is best for this technique, but you sure made it work for you with what ever you used Faith as this card is gorgeous! A technique I need to try myself after seeing your card. I do so love the color combo you used. That woodpecker is so beautiful, I have one (maybe more) that has pecked thousands of holes in my tree. Or a least that is what I think it is from anyway since I do see one from time to time pecking away. lol I need them in the grass as the ants are relentless this year in the house! Loving your clematis, they are always so pretty. I had one, but it died because of where I had it was to shady. Just didn't get enough sun. Lived and learned. lol Hugs, Brenda

  13. Just beautiful Faith - lovely stamps and a brilliant technique! Love your photos of the Woodpecker. We have a few of these now and I think their numbers have increased. Isn't it funny about your clematis? The one by my front door gave a short show in spring but has now come back again which it doesn't normally! Vicky x

  21. Gorgeous card, Faith! I'll have to try that technique. I love how it just blends together.
I've never seen a green woodpecker. We have several varieties here of woodpeckers, but this one looks so interesting. Love the red on the top of his head. Your clematis vine is gorgeous. My purple one bloomed late this year, too. My others all bloomed early since we had a very warm spring.

  22. Oh what a gorgeous card, Faith! I have that stamp set & you've inspired me to try & use it again--not that easy! So fun to see your woodpecker pictures! We have very few right now--other than the Blue Jays which neither Fritz or I like--haha!
