my image "Draft Horses"
you can buy HERE
I kept the colouring very simple, I wanted it monochrome, I had an idea in my mind, but couldn't achieve it, but I'm satisfied with it. The image is just so beautiful and reminds me of the farms around us in my childhood. The paper was a piece left over from something else (a snippet or too large to be called that?) I thought it looked liked grasses to compliment the harvesting.
image - Draft horses
coloured with - Nuvo Vibrant watercolour pencils
die - Tonic pinhole
paper - Craft Sensations
3D - Dovecraft 3D Pearl Effects - gold
I had another go at the horses using Ranger inks,
I MAY add it to a card, I'm not sure about it. I think the background is OKish, but disappointed with the horses.

It is a lovely image Faith, quite nostalgic I think and your colouring looks great xx
ReplyDeleteSuch wonderful images and they are beautifully coloured too. I always think animals are difficult to colour. Your card is beautifully designed, Kate x
ReplyDeleteFaith, that is gorgeous. Love the vintage look of that card.
ReplyDeleteWonderful image and the paper on the first one sure does compliment it. Well done on the colouring x
ReplyDeleteLove the fabulous shire horses and must admit they stand out better on the first one

WOW, Faith, your coloring of these horses is magnificent both times! I admit the one with the sunset sky grabs me more than the first one and I'm not at all disappointed with the horses. It's just a different style that better fits the background and use of the inks. I think you're in danger of being your own worst critic, my friend. :-D It's spectacular!
ReplyDeleteThat background looks amazing. I’m not sure what you don’t like about it. It gives the whole picture such great depth. And the horses are not the first thing you see when you look at your colored in image. So don’t worry about them and from experience don’t “fix” them to look better. It rarely works.
ReplyDeleteHow big is it? I think you should frame it and give it as a gift. To me, It’s that good.
Simply superb Faith
