Dress Rehearsal

Hi Everyone, I am completely lacking any mojo, but have to get these family cards done. It seems to me that my Cameo is coming up trumps each time, I have hundreds of digi stamps, hundreds of magazine freebie clear stamps, but I am throwing away more than I ever have, samples at the end of the post.

This is a card I did recently for my Great Niece on her birthday. I didn't know what to do, she is a beautiful girl in looks and ways. Then looking through my digital stamps I came across this gorgeous image and was going to print and colour as I usually do, but an idea came and I decided to try it and it worked!

I used a Silhouette sketch pen and drew it onto the card with the Cameo. To keep it as CAS as possible I also decided not to colour it in except for gold on the 17 and a couple of other highlight areas. I found metallic paper to match and kept it all simple.

font - Floryfic
Uniball gold metallic pen
Silhouette sketch pens
metallic paper - stash

These are from today! thrown in the bin!

  1. The 2 with a bear on, I used the Quill pen with the Cameo to get the gold foiling, but it was "off" the lines, I must have moved the image somehow, but I love that I can do it, perhaps better next time, I also ripped the bottom of the card removing the foil.
  2. The flower and leaves were stamped, heat embossed and coloured BADLY.
  3. The stamped flower on the printed watercolour drips, is so boring and I don't like it at all.
Any ideas to get the mojo working would be greatly appreciated. I need to get me motivated in lots of ways too?

  3. Gorgeous card and love what you did with the beautiful image.
I like the card with the flower and drips -I would cut it down maybe just maybe add aslight more touch of colour and matt and layer onto black card.

  4. I find that when I need to have a project done, that it always stops the creative process. I try not to let myself get to that point, but life often gets in the way. I hear your pain Faith, however this card really turned out beautifully. So sweet for a beautiful 17 year old.

  6. Stunning card Faith, I love it’s simplicity. I know where you are coming from with ‘cards in the bin’ as I am the same at the moment and also very lacking in inspiration xx

  7. A beautiful card Faith, such a pretty ballerina and fabulous CAS design.
When my mojo goes walkabout I always take to Pinterest and YouTube for some inspiration but I would also say 'don't be so hard on yourself' - we are our own worst critics!

  11. What a stunning effect with the sketch pen. It really does not need colouring in at all Faith....Your card is fabulous and I am sure she loved it....so very beautiful, feminine and unique x. Yes I usually have a few practice cards too....I so enjoy the process of getting the final card and what an amazing final card you achieved....Marvellous Faith x I am always stunned by your cameo creativity x

  12. Oh, Faith! Your finished card is so lovely! I had a little chuckle at the rest of the cards...thank you for sharing them. We need to do a little swap. I have an over abundance of mojo but no energy, as I have the flu. How about if you send me your good health and energy, and I'll send you some of my mojo! :o)

  13. So annoying when your mojo goes I know Faith! I find I can either make about 10 cards at one go or nothing at all lol.Loving this card though and am sure your niece will just love it too.You are so clever with your cameo and love the look of that quilled pen too.Try Pinterest if you get stuck for ideas btw.New kitchen plan progressing but still not chosen who we are going with as yet ;) hugs Viv xx

  14. Your niece's card is really beautiful & I bet she will adore it! Ah yes--Mr Mojo does come & go--haha! Sometimes I just re-do a card that came out great using different images & colors to get me going again. By the way--I love that flower, so you could fussy cut it & use it on a different background, maybe.

  15. Beautiful card and i am sure the mojo will be back sooner that you think.
Mistakes...no....you can always make somthing else out of it or use parts you liked. Art starts out of mistakes!!

  16. Hi Faith. Your CAS card is wonderful. I think I have to buy a Cameo too!!!
As for your creations in the bin, I think it is a pitty that you decided to do so. Well, OK, the bear with the foiling "off" the lines is not the best, but it could make a child happy. And I do not understand why you do not like the stamped flower and leaves. I think you coloured them beautifully. As for the stamped flower on the printed watercolour drips, the flower is amazing. So maybe you could add more watercolour drips on the card and more intense colours, like yellow for example. Hugs, my dear friend.

  19. Mojo....it sure does like to cause trouble doesn't it?! Although, I'm not seeing any Mojo problems with you Faith. Your card is stunning!! It doesn't look like it was drawn, it looks like it is one of the outline stickers that are raised a bit. So beautiful is that image and you have made it into a beautiful card. I also love your other attempts. To bad the quill pen got off on the bear images, because that was one cute card. I also love the stamped flower, it has such an artsy look with the watercoloring. I love the runs from the ink. I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder. lol I think your Mojo is just fine and you just need to not be so hard on yourself! Hugs Brenda
