Shakespeare had a lot to say about gardens and I thought this piece was relevant for the card.
Here's flowers for you;
Hot lavender, mints, savoury, marjoram;
The marigold, that goes to bed wi' the sun
And with him rises weeping: these are flowers
Of middle summer, and I think they are given
To men of middle age.
The Winter's Tale (4.4.122-7)
I made it for hubby's birthday a couple of weeks ago, (although he's older than middle age LOL) my son was ill and couldn't go out to get one, he didn't want me to buy one for him, but wanted me to make one of his choice of images, sentiment and inside verse. I had hoped for him to be well enough to go out, and left it until the last minute! as you do LOL. I chose the simplest CAS card I could find in my sketches file. For some reason I have done a few CAS card recently.
The image is Dr Digi's "Ted and his shed" which is funny as hubby's first name is Edward, although he never uses it. I coloured the image in PS added a PS stroke effect and cut it out with a circle die. I made a mistake in the size of the underneath papers, but went ahead with it anyway and think it works OK. I embossed all the papers. I 3D glossed the wellies, you have to have shiny wellies don't you? (Wellington boots) and the tools. I added Nuvo drops to the chimney. I added SN marker to the windows as I had forgotten before printing.
I would loved to have added my name to the DT call, but most challenges want hand coloured and my preferred colouring is PS, it limits me a lot, but I love doing hybrid cards.

Love love! I need to work on my coloring in PS...very envious of your coloring talent. Ps. Dang it...yup, too late to fix typo but it's just family. There is also an "h" missing in have...and I had two people check it. No wonder why my spell checker didn't catch it..haha
ReplyDeleteIt's a wonderful card, and hard to believe it was a 'last minute' with all these details you've added. Love the shine on the new green willies and your background papers look just fine to me. The embossing added lots of texture too. That trowel is pretty shiny and I liked the brick embossing with the wooden shed! I bet both your son and his Dad loved it too! Good job. TFS & Hugs
ReplyDeleteWhat a totally fun and cute card for Dad! He'll love this!
