Beach Babe

Hi Everyone, my card today is for one of my SIL who is 80 in mid March, I can safely post this as she doesn't do much on the internet. Both my brother (the engine card) and she both decided that they didn't want parties or presents and would spend their birthdays in Tenerife, hence my card today. SIL loves the beach, the 20C average for this time of year suits them well, with just a few weeks apart from their last visit they will be off to celebrate her birthday.

I searched for an image for her, thinking flowers or the like and saw this Dearie Dolls image, well it is perfect for her I thought. I followed the Outlawz sketch challenge. All laid out in PS then cut out and layered, I added a sun charm I won a long while ago.

Silhouette cut card.

Hi Everyone, my offering to you today is of this weeks freebie image from the Silhouette shop. I used a new (to me) way of printing and cutting on the Cameo all thanks to Marie on her blog  I won't explain how, pay a visit to Marie's blog she has given the most wonderful instructions, her card is so beautiful, stay and see how she has done other beautiful things on the Cameo too.

I made it for the new Silhouette Challenge on the UK blog. HERE the file is free from the SIL shop so worth a visit.

Anyhow, here's mine with the freebie cut file. As I followed Marie's file instructions to the letter, it is based on her flower. Well I AM learning - slowly!

Feather card

Hi Everyone, a card for a progressive challenge today, except I had to buy it, as I had entered the last one late duh!

I searched for feathers in my files and came across this digi paper I had forgotten about, it became my starting point for the colours. I used the SN markers matching the feather background. Then as I started colouring her hair I realised she shouldn't have been blonde! OH! well too late. That's why I like digi colouring, I could have changed it LOL. It doesn't look too bad, so kept it as it was.

I edged all the papers with a marker so they tied in together. The sentiment was cut 3 times, the feather was coloured by a marker.

Chalkboard effect card

Hi Everyone, something a little different for me, I wanted to enter a challenge with a chalkboard theme. A simple card but I really like the effect.

The paper was a freebie, I added plain shapes in PS and then used a pattern overlay to add texture. I used a tag shape and "clipped" the chalk paper to it, then added chalk effect images and made the great sentiment from Create with TLC into a chalk effect too. I used embroidery thread that I have had for aeons then printed all out and layered. Quite a few designers help was used on this.

I didn't know what to do with the chalk effect and went for info on the web, I loved this card so used it for inspiration.

Happy St David's Day

Hi Everyone, I know that St David's Day isn't until March 1st, but the challenge I made it for, is over before that, so I'm popping this post in because it has a "Twist" asking for a card for St David's Day and as I didn't (at the time) see one entered, I made a digital / hybrid one to enter. It says anything is allowed, I hope my digitally made hybrid will be accepted, but even if it isn't it's a token entry for St David's Day LOL.

I added a scenery background with mountains (I am in Wales after all) then added a blending option to fade it onto a green background, so that the flag colours are represented. The Dragon is a favourite of mine by Elizabeth Dulemba. I coloured him as the Welsh Red Dragon added a shadow, printed it out - voila!
PS. He will be on every post until the 2nd March! Why? 'cause I'm Welsh!
PPS I even have daffodils in the photo (the National Flower of Wales)

Floral sympathy

Hi Everyone, a sympathy card today, thankfully not because I need one, but want one for my "ready for box!"  Anyhow, I am in the digi colouring mode, so went to see what I could do and thought a different style and found this in my files from Create with TLC, the sentiment was also right next to it in my files, so that's what I went with.

I laid it all out in PS using the sketch from Outlawz, then coloured the flowers, I couldn't find paper to match the colours I had used! why do I do that? so I added overlays onto the colours of the strips. printed it out and layered the pieces. Added the die cuts and some Borealis gems. I die cut the image and black card to layer it and to surround the background..

Digital Colouring

Hi Everyone, I have been playing. I chose this image which I have had for a few years, not sure it was still available, I searched the file name and found it still being sold HERE

It took me a few hours in Photoshop, but I really enjoyed the process. I know some of you can colour in markers like this, but I am much more comfortable digitally. ( I can rub it out) LOL. The sentiment came from the web. The freebie digi paper (link below) has a gradient overlay, I have also used blending and shadows where I felt it was needed. I still have a lot to learn although I am quite happy with how it turned out.

Charity card!

Hi Everyone, a request to me for a card to a couple who run a charity in Africa to shoe children. I wasn't aware of it, but was sent a few details of them. This is a very personal card but I decided to post it, as I admire what this family are doing.

She didn't let me know what she wanted, so I went with my heart and it was done in double quick time.

I searched for Happy in my files and came up with a few images that I decided to use. I thought Africa is a colourful place so made it bright and happy (I hope). The centre shoe image, I have been told, is their logo and was requested to use it and if possible make something they could frame.

I found photos on the web about the family and the charity so did a sort of scrapbook page on a card, I hope they'll like it. I included the colourful shoes they are giving and something that I picked up from their blog, which gives the reason the charity is named as it is.

This is the preprinted inside, I was asked to include the sentiment.

Golfers Diet

Hi Everyone, a request for a golf card and this is what I came up with. The golfer is one that is from Hugware, I am so sorry it is no longer available, there were some very good artists there.

Anyway, I followed a sketch but decided to turn it upside down, I laid it all out in PS, printed and cut it all out, then embossed the circles and the age, the circles are supposed to represent golf balls, well I thought so LOL. I added the Welsh birthday greeting as the gentleman is Welsh speaking, also tried to keep it red and green also the Welsh colours. I didn't want to change the ready coloured image, so added a blue surround to the image. I embossed the background paper and was going to emboss the check paper, you can see it is partially embossed, which in the end I decided looked Ok. The fabulous sentiment is from Create with TLC.

As it was coming to the end of the embossing in the Calibur, there was a sudden cracking, you know as dies sound when they are going through, I kept going for a second or two then realised it was the folder breaking!!!!!!! I have only used it once before I am gutted! I've taped it together, it's only held by one piece of the folder. I will have to be very gentle when I use it. When I looked the folder an A4 size just fits the plate, I suppose I had it slightly off the bottom plate.

Hi Everyone, a birthday cake for you today? well it's inside the card LOL.  All laid out in PS as usual following the sketch. I did a print and cut on the Cameo, so made in no time with everything from one digi kit.

Young at heart?

Hi Everyone, my card today is for a friend of mine, I added the Doctor as the main image because we were talking last week and she was telling me her ailments and how she now been referred to 4 different hospitals for 4 different specialties. I HAD to add a Doctor didn't I. LOL.

I laid it out in PS as usual, following the sketch, paper pieced his shirt and pants and changed the colour of the tie and green of his head to match the papers, then printed the age, papers and the image to which I had added a frame. I also printed the sentiment to which I had added a smaller frame in the same design.  I added them all to my new die cut, making it a bright yellow to cheer her up.

Moustache

Hi Everyone, my card today is for my Niece's husband, I think I have used all his hobbies and as he is a musician also music over the years. SO I decided to go very different, I was looking for inspiration on the web when I came across the sentiment, I have lots of moustache papers and images, so decided to go with that, although he is clean shaven without a moustache!! The cake is another matter, he does like cake, so do I, so it's a question I would ask him, does this make sense?

Anyhow, the sketch was laid out in PS as usual, I added a Grungy PS Action to the background paper, then added more of the same type in similar colours, made a sentiment strip and coloured the moustache to match. Printed them all out, cut and layered them onto cream card. The moustache I thought was a little plain so I added white gel pen. The background paper, I embossed with another new embossing folder. You can see it plainer in the smaller photo.

Birthday Girl

Hi Everyone, this image is the FB Progressive freebie from Art by Miran. I used this sketch to help me, however I had printed and coloured with my SN before deciding on the sketch, so had to adapt it a little. I embossed the card then went around the card with a SN marker in lilac and yellow, I layered the image with gold paper, added a birthday die I bought recently, and glittered and added a gem to it. I was going to copy some colour suggestions, but just went with what I thought and matched the paper to it. I somehow think it works?

Love yourself!

Hi Everyone, I was going to enter this card into a challenge, then realised I had to use their stamps, oh! well another time I suppose. The image is from a progressive challenge, I have already made my one and only Valentine's Day card, so wondered what I would do. I already had the sketch and had decided on the digi papers to use, so what sentiment, well you can always rely on TLC for great ones, and found one in my files, she deserves the box of choccies LOL

I followed the sketch and cut a frame which I embossed with my new folder, laid the shapes out in PS and then printed and cut them out. Saves so much paper this way, I only print what I want. I paper pieced the girl and used dodge and burn to add shadows to her. I coloured her in PS too. I am pleased how she turned out. I added the printed heart and added 3D gloss to the digi button in the centre and a "real" bow. I used a cream textured card for a change, it may seem more cream then it actually is, as I had to take the photo in the dark, gives you an idea of what I did anyway.

Cherry Love!

Hi Everyone, this is a card I made for my hubby, he will be surprised I did one, as it's been a number of years since we sent one another cards for Valentine's Day, he says he shows me love everyday so doesn't need a Special Day to say it, (he is right, he does - Aw!) AND after nearly 52 years too.

Anyhow on to my card. It follows the Outlawz Challenge sketch for this week. I admire those people who can see the sketch in a different form, my mind is too simple for that!

I can't remember why cherries were decided on, but I do love the image. I laid it all out in PS and used blending mode on the heart to make it appear 3D I also added a wood effect overlay, and shaped the text so it appeared to be in the wood, not sure I achieved that though. then printed it with a couple of layers of cherries and cut it out (by hand, my Cameo wouldn't play). The red background paper is pearlised so has a lovely sheen. I 3D glossed the digi buttons. The sentiment is mine!

For the Love of a horse!

Hi Everyone, today I have a card with an image that is SO like my Niece that I just had to buy it. It's her birthday coming up in a few days and from a small child she has had a great love of horses, so her card shows her as she usually is, (not sure about the horse though LOL) with her beloved Azucena. She has had the horse quite a few years after seeing him on a holiday in Spain and falling in love with him. After returning home and a few weeks of negotiation, she drove back to Spain and brought him to the UK. He has won a few shows and competitions for her. I think she said he is an Andalusian horse. Photos below.

The black is card, the blue is a "Grungy Action" in PS. I printed 2 of the images out, one I had coloured in PS and one to be coloured with my SN markers, which this is. I kept the digi one in case I coloured it badly. I had added a "Grass Brush" to both (I forgot to take edit it off before printing the one to be coloured.) then tied a twine into a bow. The sentiment which I thought suited her well was from the web.

Steam Engine Card

Hi Everyone, an easy card from me today, all I had to do was print and cut it out (with a scissors!)

My eldest Brother is 80 today, his first job was a Fireman on the Steam Engines of the 1950's, the 2 younger than him followed him onto the GWR Railways. The 3 of them have been avid train enthusiasts ever since, it was so funny when they got together and played vinyl records of trains going through tunnels, with shouts of  "listen to it, he's firing up now" to get through the tunnel.
They were talking of the Severn Tunnel. It is 4 miles 624 yd (7,008 m) long, although only 2 14 miles (3.62 km) of the tunnel are under the River Severn. For well over 100 years it was the longest mainline railway tunnel within the UK, this was on their route on each journey. Go HERE for a fascinating story of how it was built etc.

Anyhow, this is a Great Western Railway engine, one that reminds me of those "halcyon" days of Steam and of my Brothers stories about it. The envelope was also a printed and cut. Oh! yes they STILL visit any Steam Engine Museum wherever they are in the world and of course the UK. Eldest went to visit somewhere recently and saw the ORIGINAL Engine he started work on, he was thrilled to be allowed onto the footplate and to drive it a short distance. Of course his birthday card, an easel shape, for his special day HAD to be of a Steam Engine! layered and decoupaged.

EDIT He told me after having the card that he had worked on this particular engine, how's that for Luck!

Have a pint!

Hi Everyone, my post today is a card for my Niece's husband, he likes an occasional drink, and as I couldn't think of anything else for him came up with this, thankfully all the elements are from one digi kit.

I have just noticed it looks like the centre is off centre so to speak!. It isn't in real life, it must be how I have straightened the card in PS, I had a terrible job trying to take the shot as it was so windy, should have taken it indoors! oh! well, too late now. Anyhow, I laid it all out in PS and saved it to print and cut on the Cameo, I added black card to the pointer and snow glitter to add texture to the pint head. I hope he likes it, he's so difficult to make for. Inside it says Happy Beer-thday I think it would have been better to have put it on the front. One of those cards that look great to you, until you start really looking at it.

We were given assorted images to work with and mine was a barrow full of flowers, now what photo to use? I came across a photo of my parents  wedding, I hadn't used Pink Petticoat papers for a while so decided to use her dots and stripes papers plus a couple of others. I added PS masks and played with blending modes and also added colour to the bouquets of my Mother and Aunt. I used digi papers and colours which were used on the barrow and flowers to match.
