Trying to be Arty?

The Stamping Boutique has a flower digi for it's challenge on Facebook, I have just received my winning magazine  so had to have a go at "trying" to be arty as there were wonderful examples in the magazine.

This is my attempt, using 21 layers and blending options in PS. I know the professionals use a lot more, but I thought this was enough for me to start with, although sometimes I use a great deal more layers for my cards.  It's a start anyway, hope to carry on doing a bit more "arty", although I haven't a clue what it means LOL. Hubby thinks I should have used different colour for the flowers what do you think? Let me know.

Here is my card for the challenge. Quite a bit different!

  1. These are both wonderful Faith!! Your 21 layers of flowers is really effective, it looks like a photo taken while laying down in a field of flowers, gorgeous!! Your card is so pretty with all the spring pastels, love the aqua you used for the flowers!! You should definitely do more 'arty', whatever that is! haha! Happy Sunday, hugs :)

  2. I like them both Faith, I think you are brilliant with Photoshop. I just can't seem to get to grips with it for anything other than basic but it's probably because I don't persevere !!

  3. Two beautiful creations Faith, your 'arty' project is gorgeous and the colours are perfect. Your card is pretty, lovely colours on this one as well - it's so interesting to see the image used in two totally different ways,

  4. Beautiful! 21 layers? I like the color of the flowers so I disagree with hubby....haha. I really want to take a dynamic course in PS. I BOUGHT A BUNCH OF $1 classes on line and now can't remember the place. This would give me something to do on rainy days. I wonder how you learn all your talent with PS

  7. The first card is very eye catching. The flowers seem to pop off the page - totally love it! The second is so different with the pastel shades, but so pretty. Your photoshop skills are amazing.

  8. Amazing with all these layers. Gosh, you do such superlative things with PS..it's just awesome. Love the flower image and I really liked the flowers on #1 against the pretty soft background. I like the blended look. Yet I do see what your DH meant, when you see the contrast of the flower color on #2. Each has its own unique & beautiful look, and #1 is just as beautiful as #2, just a different aspect. This is a gorgeous floral too. Great work. TFS & Hugs

  9. Love both of them Faith - I think it's more eye catching that the flowers on the first one aren't a different colour. wow 21 layers! I'm going to try and get to grips with digital work more. Don't be impressed by my silhouette cutting - the machine does it all! Once you master it you can't go wrong.
Thanks for all the fab comments you leave on my work.

  14. Fabulous work here Faith. I like the flowers coloured just as you've done them. Think they might be too stark against the lovely background otherwise. This way they blend in but are still bold enough to shine in their own right. (Hark at me . . . sounds like I know what I'm talking about!!!)
