I thought mine was doing well, but then I saw one of the spikes turned brown, so cut it off. Thought the other was about to bloom & then it turned brown. So I cut it off & now we'll see what happens. It does have a new leaf growing like crazy, so it's not dead.Gretahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16725341449030070385noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1985526742533043067.post-23048230891957583702020-08-04T03:37:00.559+01:002020-08-04T03:37:00.559+01:00Super cool! Once they dry out too much, the blooms fall off and that is it for the flowers. However, if you cut back the stem, in about 6-7 months, you will get a "rebirth". I had to learn the hard way to not overwater. I don't water until all the orchid mix feels dry when I stick my finger in. Have fun with your orchid..............you will probably want more! I did!!
Hugs!
DarcyCrafting with Darcyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17845147051500103949noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1985526742533043067.post-24484047610625669722020-07-30T16:04:08.402+01:002020-07-30T16:04:08.402+01:00Oh, Faith, I'm so glad you finally had a posit...Oh, Faith, I'm so glad you finally had a positive experience with the orchid. It only takes once and then you're hooked for life. :-D Beautiful work on your die cut flowers! I know how time consuming that must have been but you've done such a splendid job of it. I have zero success with them, and I have tried several times. Your picture took me straight back to a very special three months we spent travelling around E.Asia. In Thailand we unexpectedly walked into an orchid festival and every shop had a huge display of birds, animals, buildings and people, all made from various orchid flowers. It was almost too much to take in.
I am glad you found the inner mojo to tackle the plant. It is really good!
