Just for You

Hi Everyone, I'm not taking time to be on the 'puter much over the holidays, but feel I have to keep up with a couple of challenges, I usually play at, and, this is for the Outlawz Sketch Challenge. I am one of those people who follow sketches literally. I wanted a feeling of Spring after the terrible rain and winds we have been experiencing this last couple of months, hence the pale colours.

I laid out everything in Photoshop and used print and cut on the Cameo.

A CAS Christmas card

Hi Everyone, I am sad to say here is my last DT post for Deedee's Digis I have used her Birdie's Snow Day set, everything on the card is from the same set.

Everything Is On Sale!

You still have a couple of days before Deedee closes her shop permanently

A simple card and very glittery, it really has a lot of sparkle which doesn't show up too well. I coloured and paper pieced the image, I made the bird a robin, as we don't have Cardinal birds in the UK. I included DP's from the kit, then laid out in PS and saved as a png file, Cameo print and cut then I added Tonic Nuvo Pure Sheen Glitter.

I hope you all had a Happy and Fun Christmas

New Year card!

Hi Everyone, yes, I know Christmas isn't over, but made this for the Outlawz Sketch Challenge and as it is sponsored by Bugaboo decided to use one of their images and saw this image and there was the card! I followed the Outlawz sketch in Photoshop, coloured the image and paper pieced it. I added overlay stars to the background paper and the front shape, then used print and cut on the Cameo. I 3D'd the circles and top oval.

16th Birthday

Hi Everyone, here is the last of the Great Nephew cards for this year, in fact the last birthday card of the year. My GN was receiving a scooter for his birthday, to help him get to and from college.

Because of this I had my subject all planned out, this is what I made. I laid out the design in Photoshop and added his initials and age to the number plate. I'm thrilled with the teen image as it looks so much like him. I had to keep the layers low as this was to be posted so I 3D'd the scooter front and the belt and number tag.

All the images and digi papers came from CariocaDScrapbook-ThatTeenageLifeKit  @ Pixelscrapper.

Forget me not

HI Everyone, a DT card that I have a card for you today is made for Deedee Anderson of Deedee's Digis. She is closing her store and retiring her images at the end of the month. I have had so much joy using Deedee's images from the first one I ever did. I was lucky enough to be Guest Designer and then asked to join the Design Team. It has been a joy to be amongst such lovely people especially Deedee and Kathy who is the sponsor coordinator. I shall not forget you. Thank you for the opportunity to be challenged to the hilt sometimes LOL.

Deedee has 75% off her wonderful images go get some before they disappear on the 31st December  HERE
Everything Is On Sale!

Here is my thank you card for Deedee, which I am entering into the "Allsorts Challenge - Anything but Christmas" that Deedee is sponsoring.

I used a layering image from the set and coloured it in Photoshop then added a outline to the image, added the check paper to the vase and sentiment from the set. Print and cut on the Cameo and layered onto the card and 3D gloss onto the vase. I wanted a CAS card to show off Deedee's image.

21st Birthday

Hi Everyone, I told you a few days ago that I had a few Great Nephews birthday's coming up, well here is #2. He was 21, oh! where do the years go?

I have had this file a long while and have been waiting for a card I though it matched and this was it. I used some fabulous cross hatched card that my SIL bought me, when they came down recently, I LOVE it, the texture feels fabulous too. I will have to get some more when we visit Lincoln next.  Anyhow, here's the card.

Beauty of Christmas

Hi Everyone, this is an image I won from Create with TLC that I was going to use for my Christmas cards and lost it!!!!!!!!! then when I had posted them I found it, that's the way isn't it. However, I had to colour her and have used a different way in Photoshop with colour layers and blending options, it was quite difficult for me to understand the idea, but in the end I am quite pleased with it. I have kept it as a digital image, but I'm sure I will use this beautiful image next year. I followed the colour scheme below, but don't know where I got it from - sorry.

No Reindeer!

Hi Everyone, I was asked to make a card for Javacardlineart with this fun image. It had me stumped to begin with, then then thought how Rudolph would feel aw!

Anyhow I made a little scene to show what Santa would say to Rudolph and added a road to the background added a tree and Rudolph's nose ha ha. Such a fun image. I coloured in PS. I did print and cut on the Cameo and layered the image, added glitter glue, snow writer on the sign and gold glitter for the tree baubles and finally added 3D gloss to the nose.

Heart Fairy

Hi Everyone there is a progressive challenge at the ArtbyMiran Facebook Challenge. Isn't this a cute image. I hand coloured with Spectrum Noir markers, I added papers by Jennifer Ellory which were freebies in a magazine.a while ago and cut the papers with dies. I added a red strip of card which was embossed "With Love", then rolled a strip of the red card and added it on the bottom of the image, and some 3D gloss to the heart on her wand and her hair. I followed the colours on the cQc #63.

Purrfect Bauble!

Hi Everyone, another simple card for you and hand coloured, I'm not happy with the cat colouring, but tried a couple of times and this is the best, it's such a pretty image from the TheEastwind digital stamps. I am entering the progressive challenge.

Engagement Card

We had wonderful news at the weekend when my Great Niece rang to me to tell to buy a hat! her boyfriend had got down on one knee and asked her to marry him, she had no idea he was going to propose. He even bought the ring which she was thrilled to find fitted beautifully. He felt after moving into their own house recently and finishing the changes they wanted to make and a Christmas tree up, it was romantic to ask her in their newly finished and decorated for Christmas room. We were so thrilled for them.

Here is the card I made for them, I had to incorporate the Christmas theme didn't I? I laid it out and coloured the image in Photoshop, I saved the frame and image to a png file and print and cut on the Cameo, 3D'd it onto the card. I followed the April 2015 TSB Digisketch Challenge sketch which I turned. I added a gem onto the ring in the image.

Another Christmas card

Hi Everyone and my fabulous new followers, thank you for your support.

I have another Christmas card that I have popped in this weekend. I won't be doing any crafting for a few days as we have visitors, well not really visitors, they are my #3 Bruvva and SIL, so plenty of laughs and gossip.

The image by "All Dressed Up Digi Stamps" is the freebie on the Progressive Challenge at the Outlawz and the sketch I have used is also from the Sketch Challenge at the Outlawz. I don't know if it against the rules to enter them with one card, but with with family here I won't have time otherwise to enter.

Have a good weekend, See you next week. :)

A Christmas Card with a story!!!!

Hi Everyone, I thought I would do a post whilst waiting for my Brother and SIL to arrive for their visit this weekend.

My card is another from Paper Garden Products. They are on sale at the moment go have a look. I used the Holiday Home Digital kit which has beautiful papers in it as well as elements. I have placed assorted elements in the corner of a frame also the sentiment included in the kit. I saved it to use in my Cameo, then print and cut the frame with the flowers, glued it on the cream linen card, added glitter glue and gems and 3D'd the sentiment, a real quick card and great for batch cards.

I decided to do another with a slightly different design and a different insert. I had it all saved and printed and did one sheet, Cameo didn't like the registration marks from there on, so I switched off, thinking it maybe the light. Anyway next day switched on to cut them out and Cameo wouldn't connect. Noooooooooooo!

To cut a VERY, VERY, 7 day, long story short and many emails and a phone call later, I am reconnected, I had a cry I was so happy. Cameo Support were incredible and I have to say they gave great instructions and were very patient with me. I was so frustrated. I spent hours online looking for a solution, in between waiting for replies to my emails, even changing things on my computer to see if they would work. Today and a lovely email from Support again, a 5 minutes alteration and I am cutting. Whooooppppeeee! Lots and lots of hours wasted looking and all I had to do was delete a file. In the end to get my cards in the post, I cut them by hand. Here is the sheet as I forgot to take a picture of the card.

Mother of Vinegar!

Hi Everyone, a post today of information, which has NOTHING to do with cards. However it WILL be of interest to you. This is a photo heavy with an interesting explanation.

A few weeks ago, hubby was refilling our vinegar bottle we put onto the table, when he shouted to me to come and see what had come out of the bottle something horrible and slimy, what was it UGH!
I took a couple of photos of it as we certainly weren't going to keep it! This is it.
This is as it was poured into the sink
This is after it was lifted out of the sink and poked about with!

We inspected the vinegar bottle and it was clear and normal looking. I contacted the Supermarket Customer Serves by email including the photos, I had the usual, we will reply ASAP, but before the reply came a couple of days later, we had a look at the bottle again and there was something growing in it again yuck! An alien had invaded it and it had legs! This time I emailed again with the new extra photos and the previous photos.

Growth with legs?

New growth shaken
I soon had a telephone call from the Customer Service team who were quite concerned and requested I take it back to the store with a reference number, Which I did. I was told the results could take a month for the laboratory to check it out.

A couple of weeks later I had this email. -

I am sorry for the delay in replying.

I have spoken to our food safety team and they have confirmed that this is 'mother of vinegar' please find some information they have provided below;

Mother of vinegar
[1] is a substance composed of a form of cellulose and acetic acid bacteria that develops on fermenting alcoholic liquids, which turns alcohol into acetic acid with the help of oxygen from the air. It is added to wine, cider, or other alcoholic liquids to produce vinegar. Mother of vinegar is also known as Mycoderma aceti, a New Latin expression, from the Greek ????? (fungus) plus ????? (skin), and the Latin aceti (of the acid).

[2] The naming of the bacteria has been rather fluid due to its original identification near the inception of bacteriology. Currently, the preferred naming is Acetobacter. [3]

Mother of vinegar can also form in store-bought vinegar if there is some non-fermented sugar and/or alcohol contained in the vinegar. This is more common in unpasteurized vinegar. While not appetizing in appearance, mother of vinegar is completely harmless and the surrounding vinegar does not have to be discarded because of it. It can be filtered out using a coffee filter, used to start a bottle of vinegar, or simply ignored.

I hope that this doesn't put you off shopping with us, I have popped a voucher in the post which I hope you will use to treat yourself when you next shop with us.

Kind regards

I have never seen anything like it and thought it may help anyone who may come across it.  I hope you found it as fascinating as I did.

Deedee's Digis Blog Hop

Hi Everyone, My first of two posting today, the DSC Challengewill be posted at 2pm.

Happy December! It's a brand new month, and what better way to celebrate than with a blog hop?!? This hop is a little different than our usual. This month we are proudly sponsoring the quarterly blog hop at the House of Cards challenge blog, where all of their hop creations are centered around this lovely inspiration photo.

If you participate in their hop, you could win one of several prizes from a variety of sponsors. But we thought, why not make it a true PARTY and offer you a TANDEM HOP?!?

So here's how OUR hop works:
  • Based on the same inspiration photo, some of our designers have created projects to inspire you.
  • You have until 11:55 PM Pacific Time this Saturday, December 5, to visit our participating designers' blogs and leave them some love.
  • At the end of our hop, each participating designer will choose a winner from the comments left on their hop post, and each winner will receive one digi set of their choice from our shop.
  • All winners will be announced here on Monday, December 7th.
Sound like fun? But wait -- there's more!!! When you've completed the hop, be sure to stop back here and leave a comment to tell us so. Those who do will be entered to win our grand prize of a $15 gift code to the shop.

Last but not least, no Deedee's Digis blog hop would be complete without a FREEBIE to kick it off. Our new "Gift of Love" digi set is available to download for FREE in the "Try Before You Buy" area of our shop through December 6.

Wow -- that's a lot of FUN! Now let's get going! Here are the designers to visit. Happy hopping! :-)

Anyhow on to my creation. I followed the inspiration picture to make an unusual colour way Christmas card and I am quite liking it. I used the outline image candle from Deedee's Digis "Open Window" I laid it out and coloured it in Photoshop, printed it out and decided to scrape the edges of one of the layers. After layering the candle and it's papers I sewed around the edge, (just wish my little sewing machine was a better stitcher!) I added glitter glue around the candlelight and the snowflakes.

Sad news.

This is from Deedee's blog today.

Shop Closing December 31

My dear crafty friends,

This last year has been a very challenging one for my family, and it has become increasingly difficult for me to keep up with running a business around the twists and turns of life. Although I'm sad to do it, I have decided to close Deedee's Digis so that I can better focus my attention where it needs to be -- on my family.

So that we can honor our sponsorship commitments, the shop will remain open through December 31, and we will continue to share inspiration here until then. If there are digi sets that you've been wanting, please do order them before December 31. Also, if you have prize codes that you've been holding on to, please be sure to use them ASAP, as I will not be able to honor them after December 31. All of our digi sets are, and will remain, on 75% discount through the closing, so you should be able to get a lot for even a little.

Normally we would have a new Digi of the Month challenge to share with you today, but because we are closing, we have decided not to have one this month. Those who played in last month's challenge, however, should have received a special set, as promised, in your email.

I thank you all for the last six, wonderful years of being able to share digis with you. Although I won't be running the shop anymore, I do hope to continue crafting. You can find my long-neglected personal blog at http://stampingsunshine.blogspot.com/, where I hope to soon be able to share my personal craft projects again, if you are interested in keeping up. Who knows...as much as I love to draw, I might just have a little treat to share there with you now and again, too. ;-)

I wish you and yours a very happy holiday season, and everything good in the new year!

Hugs!

Art by Miran Guest spot

Hi Everyone, I am so thrilled and proud to say I have been chosen as
Guest Designer at Art by Miran

Here is my card for the challenge, I loved this image "Snowman Kissed" which I won for being chosen as a GD.  I don't know why, but the colours grey and pink came into my mind for this beautiful pair.

I laid it all out in Photoshop, printed my papers and cut them into shape. I cut the sentiment out with a Tonic oval die and coloured my image with Spectrum Noir markers, I am still getting used to colouring by hand, and hope I have given Mi Ran's image justice. I cut the image out with a Tonic circle die and added snow effect to the little circles around the image.

Christmas Cross

Hi Everyone, here is a DT card for Deedee's Digis who is sponsoring a challenge at Crafting by Designs with the theme "Getting Ready For Christmas."

I have had this particular kit "Seasonal Crosses" from Deedee a little while but I haven't used it and I don't know why, it really is lovely and for all year around. I used the sentiment from the Wise Men kit.

The image makes a quick card if you want and I made it quick with a simple embossing background, a navy card layer, some glitter glue and a pearl drop, quick and easy, although I'm happy it's quite effective.
