1st Anniversary card

Hi everyone, I have an anniversary card for you today.  I was asked to make a white card. I added the aborialous bling as the wedding was lilac and she wanted a tiny bit of colour on it! as it turned out I did right and she was thrilled .  The flowers are cut from vellum. As it's a paper anniversary and I had come across a template on this blog I added a newspaper layout to the card as an extra sheet. This was also well received, thankfully. I added Glamour Dust glitter to the flowers they really sparkle, not sure if you can see it.

Of course 90% is pure fiction, on this newspaper!
The embossing folder is Embossalicious Elegance
The ribbon is Hallmark

TLC challenge

Hi everyone, I am trying to do a card everyday for the progressive challenge on Create with TLC. I don't do a card everyday now, especially after retiring I have definitely slowed down! so thought I have to have a go at this.

My first one I have already passed onto to Paulette, but thought I would post it here to remind myself I can still do it LOL. The house is free for the challenge, I already had the sentiment, the DP's and the tree and windmill are from a digi kit by Down this Road Designs.

My second day entry is Coffee, the image is a freebie for the challenge, again the sentiment is one I already have from Create with TLC. The coffee border is by Victoria Hutto. The striped DP is from a kit by MLE card. The coffee beans are by Nibblescribbles, I added 3D gloss to the cup.

It's time for a new challenge at

 Digitally Sweet Challenges

Musical

sponsored by  Bugaboo Digi Stamps

I was looking for idea on "Musical" and saw this show, (now on in London) which made me choose the DT image this week from Bugaboo. Let me tell you a story, then perhaps you will understand how this card came about.

Essex 1968. Like millions of other working women, each morning Rita O'Grady is just trying to get her husband out of bed, get the kids off to school and get to work at the factory on time. But life is about to change forever when it’s announced that the girls in the sewing room of Ford’s Dagenham UK. car plant will have their pay grade dropped to ‘unskilled’.

Quickly drawing on a strength she never knew she had, Rita leads her friends in a battle against the might of Ford and the corruption of the Union supposed to protect them. As the girls’ inspiring journey gets bigger than anyone could have imagined, the pressure is too much for some, but can Rita keep up the fight and the happy home she’s worked so hard for?
This verbatim account is from here HERE

This is the musical show I am depicting here today in my card. I can remember this story from the time it happened.  What a woman! (I hope you don't think I am being political about this, but it just shows how inspiring ordinary women can be)

Monster birthday

Hi Everyone, I've got something for you, (for a change of late!)  It's a freebie image that I thought was cute so entered the challenge for it.

I used DP's from the digi kit to make his suit, added shadows to all the elements, printed and cut it all out, layered the monster and added another layer for his head. I glittered the "glitter" element below his hand and 3D glossed the buttons, I love his "brightness".

I'm Back!

Hi Everyone, sorry for the AWOL, we have been away for a few days then I have been catching up with lots of things, so haven't had time to post until now.

We went to a "Garden Party", no not at Buckingham Palace, but at my niece's in Bury St Edmunds, she and hubby were celebrating the finalisation of 3 years hard work getting their house into order and gorgeous it is too, all done by her husband. He's retired so had a few things to keep him "busy" LOL. Here is a piccy of the garden layout with the hired waitresses, well you have to do things properly don't you LOL. I forgot to take a piccy of the fabulous food, I was too busy tucking in! The lady in the B&W dress is my niece.  The second is the cloakroom which was his last job.

We then went on to visit my brother and SIL in Lincolnshire, we always go for a spin around the countryside when we are there and during one of these journeys we came across this fabulous empty and unloved cottage, I fell in love with it and my dreams of bringing it back to life with love was quite overwhelming.

If any of you are old enough to remember the 40's film "The Enchanted Cottage" with Robert Young and Dorothy McGuire a beautiful post war film about a disfigured man coming home from the war, it reminded me of it.  If I won the lottery I would just have to have it at any price. Ahhhh!

This is a little of the countryside around where we went.

That's all for today, hope you enjoyed seeing a little of our break.

Penguin

Hi Everyone, a short and quick post to show you my offering for Squirrels Penguin challenge.

I made the penguin in PS with heart shapes for the body and circles cut in half for the feet, a triangle for his nose and silver stroked PS styles by SKS around the body and acrylic styles for the feet and nose by Dundas Designs. (If I remember rightly they both came from the Photoshop daily web site.) I added a black background and printed it out, folded it and it became a bar of chocolate wrap. I had an Aero bar in it to give, but forgot to take a photo of the choccie in it duh! Of course he had to have a ribbon and I also added 3D gloss to his eyes, nose and feet.

I know Squirrel is a true stamper, but mine is pure digi, well until printed then it becomes hybrid, just like me LOL.

Birthday card

Hi Everybody, beautiful day here just like summer, we are so lucky having this weather at this time of year.

I want to share this birthday card I did for my niece. I love this image, but haven't got a clue who it is by, so would be grateful if anyone could enlighten me. This is one layer due to postage restrictions to her. I used a DP for her skirt and the flowers in the image and coloured her PS. Then added Glamour dust.

All DP's and all elements are by Booland Designs.

New box

Hi Everyone, beautiful day here in NATO visited Wales. I couldn't get over the security fences in Cardiff that people had to negotiate to go about their normal day to day things and, as far as I am aware, all for a dinner at Cardiff Castle. The members were actually staying outside Cardiff. Oh! well  I suppose that's the way of the modern world.

Something I did learn during the visit, that Wales has the most Castles per capita anywhere in the world!

You can't go many miles without coming across one LOL.

Anyhow, enough of all that! here's my offering today.

I am taking part in a progressive challenge and this little fellow was given to use for it.  I wanted to make something different, (my hubby says it's the full moon syndrome!) I have lots of boxes and other cut files, but I HAD to do something different, so went looking for a cup to take the digis we had to play with.

I saw this HERE, the only thing was, it didn't have an SVG for me to play with, so I had a go at copying the shape in PS and then placed it into the Cricut to cut it. I succeeded after a quite few hours of playing and cutting and redoing, you know what I mean.

I cut the shape out on white copy paper, just as well as it was HUGE, (I hadn't sized it as you can see.) I resized it, it still holds a heck of a lot of choccies or chocolate drink, I expect I will make it smaller again, at the moment it's 12cm wide and 71/2 cm high (approx 5inches x 3.1/4 inches) the size is just the cup shape.  Instead of a scalloped edge I laid maple leaves, (from PS shapes,) around the top which I also had to make to fit. I cut 2 cup handles (derived from an arrow PS shape) placed them back to back to strengthen them, then glued all together.

I added the cute chipmunk, which I printed twice one reversed, changing the colours of his outfit to match the DP, (but leaving his face and body the original coloured image) and the background from the original and glued them together, fussy cut and stuck him on top, and made a tag with the other digi and the sentiment included. I held it in place with grey ribbon (from a jumper). Added glitter to the leaves and on the cups.

Congratulations if you got through all that and hope you think it was worth it.

I have made my "page" today with several images from Lunagirl, mostly because I couldn't make my mind up what I wanted to use, as they are all gorgeousness in themselves.

I have tried to do a "proper" digital make up, by making the cake and plate with PS shapes, digi paper and elements, with Lunagirl images leaning on it and pictures for the "wall" and a label for the cake.

I also made the text into "chocolate" style with some playing in PS. I got the quote from the web. I also did a light effect!

I'm not sure I got away with the cake and plate, but it's a start!
