A Unicorn Christmas

Happy Christmas Everyone,
I'm wishing you well no matter what is happening in your life. There are a few blog friends who are going through tough times with illness and death and I pray you are having the support and love you deserve.

Because of this, I decided I would give you a chuckle and hope it will bring a little festive cheer into your lives.

It all started in November when my niece asked if I would make a Unicorn horn for her and her friends horse, which I did and blogged HERE. She asked as she was riding her horse for a local charity Christmas show, but it was called off the same morning due to sodden ground. Nevertheless, she promised she would have her horse use it later on, these are the piccies she sent me, I am SURE it will make you giggle.

That was fun

Wishing you all
Fun and Enjoyment this Christmastide

Snowman box

Hi Everyone, my card today is for

This challenge is right up my street, especially this time of year as I am busy making lots of boxes. This one is one of 4 for my Bruvvas and BiL, filled with Cadburys mini snowballs, I think it will give them a little fun. I can put it here as only 2 of them would visit and that's only rarely, so I'm pretty safe, I hope! Don't you love his expression?
all cut on my Cameo
paper ribbon - First Edition Gift of Christmas pad
card - Crafters Companion, Dovecraft, Lidl
white pen - Signo white broad

Not a turkey!

Hi everyone my card today is for the Limited Runs FB Christmas challenge, where we're asked to make a Christmas card with any Limited Runs image, that's easy I have a few and decided to use 2 of them.
chicken / tree background - Limited runs
coloured in Photoshop CS6
Cosmic Shimmer Fluffy Stuff
star- Quickutz Die (SO Old!)
sentiment my own
bubble speech shape Photoshop
all cut out on Cameo 2
I'm not sure this chicken realises that chickens are Christmas dinners too LOL.

After I layered the chicken I noticed the shaping had made it a little off, I don't think the recipient will notice, not sure if she will even look at the front of the card? Just who it's from! I like to make her a funny card anyway.

Unicorn horn!

Hi Everyone, I had a phone call off one of my nieces, she asked if I could make a Unicorn horn - for her horse! First thoughts no problem, my Cameo will do that, then asked if the gala she wants it for was outside? Yes was the reply, so paper / card was no good. Then thought I would rope my SiL in, as she is great with the sewing machine. AND she had material scraps that were many years old, such as the gold lame.

Anyhow after she and I got together, after asking for sizes of the bridle, we spent a few hours cutting the pattern and then working out what shape to cut the band, she did the sewing of the band and seams of the horn. I finished the band and horn off, with it's shaping and adding the poinsettias and leaves, the SiL also had in her "scraps". This didn't cost anything but time and my Niece was thrilled with it. She asked for one for her friend too, hence 2 made.

She also told me she will be wearing a red dress with Christmas pudding on her boobs! She has huge boobs, so you can imagine what this will look like.  She has promised to update me when she does the gala. She is so funny.

Here are the photos of the horns, (their not perfect, but as a one off Christmas gala she wasn't wanting perfect - just as well LOL,)  also  the horse wearing them to see if they fit.

Sweater bear!

Hi Everyone, my card today is for

I was lucky with this challenge theme I had lots of ideas, but, couldn't put them together. As I had stamps that I could use, that's what I went with, the only thing was, I had finished when the light had gone, just 4pm, that's Winter for you! because of that I have to apologise for the photo, taken under artificial light! I know Nordic patterns are rustic and I shouldn't have used mirror card, but the theme is "inspired by ugly sweaters" LOL.

New Born / New Home

Hi Everyone, this is related to my last post, as Dorothy has a new brother Owen, he had a very traumatic entry into the world, then was readmitted with jaundice, but thankfully Mum and baby Owen are now at home and getting on well.

This is a photo of him and his sister

This is the card I made for them, I was looking on the web for ideas and came across This card. I decided to case it, I didn't have the die, so used a digital die. I stamped the sentiment inside the heart, but the ink wasn't dark enough, so I went over it with marker pen. I printed a sentiment onto vellum, then added embossing powder and heat set. I cut the heart background with the Silhouette Cameo 2.

embossing folder - Embossalicious Argyle pattern
striped background - Hunkydory
stamped sentiment - magazine freebie
marker pen - Spectrum Noir

As well as coming out of hospital on Saturday, they moved into their new home the same day, poor man after being traumatised with the birth and my G Nieces and baby Owen's condition, had to do everything himself, thankfully my Niece was on hand to do Granny duty and move a few things too. After the birth he had to drive 3 hours pack up, drive back and move everything into the new house. Wise after the event, he said next time, IF there was a next time, LOL he would get removers to do it!
Anyway here's the card I sent for their new home.

the roof was 3D'd and Spectrum Noir clear sparkle pen was added to the house.

2 year old

Hi Everyone, I have a card for you today that I made in September for my Great, Great Niece who was 2 years old, my Niece keeps me informed of what Dorothy does, which as she's living 4/5 hours away makes it wonderful to be involved in. I used a cat as she has one that she loves.

I had seen a technique by Jennifer Mcguire that showed how to use glitter and a laminate pouch. I had both in my stash, so had a go, the background to the cat is what happened. I was thrilled with it. I also added her name, using my Cameo and the WRMK foil pens on the bottom parcel, whilst also cutting the cat, the number and the shaped border out.

Crossword

Hi Everyone my card today is late for the

I had so many ideas that I put off making my card until I decided which one - Wrong!
Anyhow last minute I thought of a crossword as I know a few men who spend their time with the daily newspaper doing their crossword. I made it up on an Excel word sheet and then transferred it to Photoshop, where I put it all together with background dp.  The pencils were then cut out on my Cameo and 3D'd onto the card. Here is the message in case you can't see it, On your birthday you need no clue, to know all good wishes are sent to you. Happy birthday.

Hello

Hi Everyone, I felt I had to explain my lack of visits to you all. As you may know we are carers for my son, who has mental health issues. These last many months have been particularly wearing for us, maybe our age is getting to us? Anyhow, I want to thank you for your continuing support while I have taken a step back from a few things, but comments will have to wait I'm afraid, for the time being, while I pick myself up.

I have thankfully been able to keep up with my DT work, but I have not felt like crafting and even when I do, I sit here and nothing comes to me. Lots of procraftinating! Family cards have had to be made even though nothing else happens, I make myself do them, the dreaded Christmas cards are particularly difficult this year, lesson learned - start early in the year, which is what I promised myself at the start of the year, oh! well.

I wanted to show you these few things while I'm here.

After seeing our neighbours holly tree hedge, I had to take a closeup photo of them, I haven't seen so many berries in all the 25 years we have been here, does that mean a hard Winter? there were 3 magpies sitting in it (circled)

another part of it

I have been looking for a while for matching canisters to suit my kitchen, whilst in the supermarket a few weeks ago I saw these and thought them perfect, but they didn't have a labels on them. As they were only £2 each I decided to have them and then made my own labels on the Silhouette Cameo 2 with vinyl. I'm really pleased with them.

Avast me hearty!

Hi Everyone, as you can imagine from my title my DT post today is about Pirates and is for

I had 2 male cards to make and this theme was perfect, for both are West Country boys/men? I still think of them as boys, even though one is 21 and one is 20. They don't know each other, hence no problem making two cards the same. I came across a Pirate speak translation site, I entered what I wanted to say and out came the phrases, handy ay? and as pirate speak originates from the West Country, I thought it was right to use it.

Halloween Howl

Hi Everyone, my DT card today is for

I have absolutely no mojo atm, and had difficulty putting something together, Pinterest, didn't work, until I came across this howling wolf and I thought straight away of him howling at the moon, so I look for a moon and this background paper came up, look for a sentiment and this one came up, so looking for inspiration was actually in my files, whew! I couldn't believe how many Halloween files I have!! including a recent blog hop!

I decided to have the wolf on half a card, so he looks like he is further away from the moon, it works in real life! I cut him on my Silhouette and added score marks to make the texture on his coat. I also added another bat.

wolf - Design Bundles, cut on Silhouette
bat - Digital Scrapbook Studio - Blog Hop Oct 19, cut on Silhouette
halloween paper - Just Because Studio, also blog hop
insert paper - Studio 4, also blog hop
skeleton - Tracey B Creations, also blog hop
sentiment - no info - sorry

this shows the half card and the wolf

AND THEN!
as I was going through the files, I saw this a can label from YEARS ago. I had just finished a can of coffee and it had an orange top, so decided to clean it out and add the label, a gift can! whooppee! of -

CAS

Hi Everyone, my DT card today is for

CAS is not easy for me, I always want to add more, so I tried to use a leaf stamp and see where it got me. I'm getting the idea of stamping now and knowing that I can use them in any way or position, who would have guessed? Although I do it digitally I never thought of "real" stamps being used in the same way? Strange!  I think this is classed as CAS, at least I hope so. I was going to add the sentiment lower, but a little drop of ink made that it had to be added where it is.
