Shaving foam technique

Hi Everyone, the Male Room challenge today is

Yep! the title is correct,  "I" have done a "technique" it was with huge trepidation that I took all the equipment needed, an old cooking sponge tray covered with foil, a couple of plastic gloves, hubby's shaving cream and some Adirondack inks, that I have had for years and years and not opened them AND a BBQ skewer! with NOT a computer in sight! (until the inside was printed.)

Squirt the foam, nice smell! add a few drops of the ink, not too much it may be too much! mix with BBQ skewer, OK that's enough, press the card into it, lift it off the foam, crikey!

OK now let it rest for a few minutes, then wipe the foam off. Mmmmmm looks OK, but not much colour, let's do it again - add some more colour, repeat previous steps. Mmmmm not as good as the video samples on The Male Room. Now what to do with it or even them?

This took more thinking than it did to colour the card. I used the lighter colour piece as the background layer and started with an embossing basket weave EF! Then die cut the circle, 3D the card onto some blue paper to match, added the sentiment, which I die cut twice out of the heavier ink card, a few tiny buttons that just happened to match, how lucky is that? Here's the result

I've also added piccies of the card, just to prove I did something so VERY alien to me AND have to say, the card smells gorgeous LOL.

Fabulous! This is so cool, thanks for the reminder of the shaving foam technique - it's been ages since I tried that. Love the Happy Birthday cut out in the darker tones and the way you've designed it.

Well, Faith, all that hard work has turned out beautifully! What a strange technique, and what interesting results! I must snaffle my hubby's shaving foam and have a go!

love Mags B x

Unfortunately you have 'Captcha' on your blog, I've noticed it cropping up a lot recently. What a pain it is! X

I haven't actually done the shaving cream technique but I do love everything I've seen when others have used it. I guess I just need to get brave and try it, right? I love your card! It's marvelous and I love that the background and the sentiment have different amounts of color. If you had told us you planned it that way, we'd all be patting you on the back about how magnificently you accomplished it. :-D

I am thrilled to bits that you tried out the technique and I love the card you made. The colours are super and the added texture is perfect for a guy card. I do like the die cut sentiment too. xx

Oh my! That does sound messy - but incredibly FUN! Such a wonderful card and perfect for a male! I'll bet it still smells quite nice too!

Love that you actually went on after the shaving foam and embossed and die cut the card. Looks so effective and your colours are very delicate - I really struggled to get any results like this, guess I was a bit heavy handed with the inks.
