Contemporary Art!

Hi Everyone. Sorry you are getting the 3 posts on one day, as I want to enter the challenges and I'm not sure if my 'puter will last for me to post over a few days, so decided to do it all today, and there were you thinking you would would have a rest from me LOL.

You didn't think I would be naming a post Contemporary Art would you? To be true I couldn't think of anything else, this is soooooooo not me! It all started with me subscribing to the mail list of The Eastwind and this is the freebie we got this month.

I keep reminding you I am digi colourer not a hands on colourer, so what do I do with this? I thought and thought and then Marilyn Monroe came into my mind, do you remember the famous picture by Andy Warhol? This is my interpretation. I copied the image and placed them in a block, printed them out and coloured them with - yep! you've guessed - water colour pencils, after I had done the background I went over the eye, nose and mouth again, making the colour stronger. I then embossed it all and decided to use a new purchase (I had to try) metallic gilding wax. I was going to pick up the details on the embossing, then noticed that the black printed image turned violet. I loved it so much I added the wax to the entire page and then shone it with a paper towel. I love the sheen. I added the page to violet card and drew around the blank card front with the water pencils, spreading the colour out. I couldn't decide how to add a sentiment either, so embossed a piece of vellum and placed it on the bottom line.

This is magnificent, Faith! I love what you did with this image more than what I did with it. :-D You went Warhol and I went Picasso. So sorry about the computer issues.
