LIM 54

A fabulous day today, even if it is cold, we were going to go down to the sea, BUT the car developed a slow puncture and my hubby has been away having it fixed about 3 hours so far, so in the meantime what was I to do, um! a bit of cleaning - nah! I finished reading a book, do I start another, nah! Let's play I thought and so WOW I have actually made a card on a Saturday for the LIM challenge , the criteria this week is -

The second week of each month is when we get back to the basics of Clean and Simple Design... the
One Layer Card. This week we have a really tricky challenge... I don't think we're going to be immensely popular with our LIMettes, but here goes... we would like to see
STRIPES
Making a one layer card incorporating stripes is not as straightforward as a regular card, but we'd like you be as inventive as you like.
You can use an image with a striped design, an embossing folder which incorporates stripes or draw or make some yourselves.

For this I had to look through everything I have to do with stripes, however nothing came to mind on what I would do with them.  I then had a look through my digi stamps and came across this fab image of QueenBeeVintageDigitizedbyTlcCreations and thought STRIPES!!!!!!!!!  a bit of colouring not so straightfoward in PS and came up with this. I also used a filter in PS to give the wings a glass effect, hoping it would make them more see through LOL. The font is  ForgetMeNotHMK, if I'm not mistaken I fancied it on one of Mandi's cards a while back.  After printing I added gold Stickles so the wings sparkled a bit.

As I have finished writing this hubby has returned with a repaired tyre, thankfully only £12.00 to pay out today :) anyhow, here's the card

My SIL Anne suggested I try gradient in PS, so I did.

Yet another fantastic way to interpret the rules for this week. I would never have thought of that, but it works so well, and perfect for the brief. thank you for your visit this morning and for your lovely comment. The "embossing" is a slight cheat, it is done digitally in My Craft Studio by manipulating two identical layers, one on top of the other. You click to emboss the top layer "which can be frightening, as your beautiful image goes dark grey and manky) and the reduce the opacity of that embossed layer until your image underneath reappears. Then it is just a case of balancing the two images to get the right image. It is not always successful, but this time it seemed to work fine. Have a good week. xx Maggie
